According to reports on ESPN, Missouri voted unanimously

I'd rather not have them or A&M. I don't like the fact that by bailing on their conference they'll reap the rewards that the 12 member institutions have worked for so long to achieve in this one.

The Longhorn network and unequal revenue sharing did in the Big 12.

Add Missouri. Move Bama and Auburn to the east and Vandy to the west.

Problem solved!

Don't say a word when we play Florida, Georgia, SC, Bammer, and Auburn each season...........while LSU feasts on the likes of OM, State, Vandy and Mizzou.

TA&M and Missouri go into the western division, Auburn slides over into the East. Problem solved, except for the six eastern division teams!

That was started by someone in the Big 12 media. I would not give that much thought. MU has been working in good faith with the SEC.

I like the SEC adding Mizzou a heck of a lot more than adding WVU. But, I still would like to see Va Tech, FSU, Clemson, etc. added (I know it's unlikely).

For those so eager to offer Mizzou a spot in the SEC, please read this article:

Report: Missouri Tigers hope to join SEC, had wanted Big Ten invite most - ESPN

It makes it clear that we are their SECOND choice. The SEC is no one's 'fall back' plan, IMO.

Note that it comes from "anonymous source" just happens to be either close to the university or "familiar with conference affiliation"

....it's pretty much either made up by the big 12 schools like everyone's saying

or someone in the board/administration/booster is overly butthurt about the final decision - and they felt doing this might either muck it up or force someone in the Big 10 to "rise up and save them"

(if this was remotely worthwhile, the guy wouldn't have been as vague and anonymous as he was here)

I bet the Big Ten is West Virginia's first choice, too.

Mizzou is exploring options..... which means they're leaving the Big 12 for sure.

Not sure the SEC is a slam dunk though. Look for the Big 10 to enter the picture --- at least to talk to them. The Big 10 would have to feel uncomfortable with the SEC gaining TV market share ( St Louis & KC ) so close to their territory.

I'm a traditionalist, I hate all this expansion..... but as a Kansas Citian I would love to have Mizzou in the SEC which would mean SEC coverage here in KC.

There is a lot of consternation here in KC over Mizzou leaving the Big 12 ---- probably means the loss of the Big 12 basketball tournament at the Sprint Center and the Big 12 football championship at Arrowhead ...a financial blow to the city.

KC does get the SEC network now...it's on the spot channel (8)....just started this year.

to explore leaving the Big 12, which means they will be #14 in the SEC. Book-'em Dano!!

That's what I'm thinking. I hate west Virginia, but a certain poster on here absolutely hates the idea of them in the SEC. So now, I'm all for it.

Without Vandy, LSU, and the Mississippi schools.

Too bad we do not know how to compete anymore. Thank God for Buffalo, Montana, and UT-Martin.

I like Missouri overall, but one thing I don't like is they'd be the only school in the SEC that would rather be somewhere else (Big Ten).

so we're there second choice huh? They want to join Big Ten but Big Ten doesn't want them so they will settle for SEC.....

This was pretty much a smear put out by someone who didn't like the move and seems to think that they can cause enough unrest to sabotage things up....the "anonymous official tied to Missouri" means they could be anyone at the school, ranging from an upset professor to the one board member who didn't get his way - as well as just a single opinion (as mr. Sec put it: of a kook)....(im told the same kind of stories apparently started to come out about a&m during their moving talks as well)

The Missouri fans are the ones who have been pushing this move and - depending on the poll you go with - 75-90% of them are in favor of the move being to the sec and that's all...:there's still a small (likely butthurt) section of the fanbase that wants the big 10 though (theyre the one's being vocal about stuff like this...either to mess the sec negotiations up or to try to stir the big 10 into doing somethig)

I like Missouri overall, but one thing I don't like is they'd be the only school in the SEC that would rather be somewhere else (Big Ten).

Missouri fans bombarded the curators, chancellor, athletic department, and Governor with tons of emails and phone calls demanding a move to the SEC. They didn't do that because they wanted to move to the Big Ten.

In fact last year when there was all the talk about the Big Ten the fans/alumni/students/boosters didn't show a tenth of the passion and fight that they did this year for the SEC. Yet thanks to one quote from an anonymous source in an article that went out over the AP we keep hearing from people outside Missouri that we would rather be in the Big Ten. It's no wonder this "source" wanted to remain anonymous. If he gave his/her real name he would probably have to worry about a mob chasing him out of town.

It's really amazing how some message boards and media are running with this guys quote like it is gospel.
