Active Shooter at High School in Parkland, FL

He threw away his career to make a point?

I'm usually the last guy to buy into conspiracy theories, but I'd be real interested in where the money for his defense, and other expenses comes from. Like was posted above, this does have the potential to be dialed down to a misdemeanor. Very little long term risk vs huge potential political rewards for the anti gun agenda.

He may not get charged with much in the way of jail time but he will definitely lose his job and unlikely ever get one in teaching again.

That’s a pretty big risk to throw away your livelihood just to be a martyr for gun control.

Off topic a bit but the judge in the Parkland shooting is smoking hot!

Doesn't bode well for the accused. She literally looks like the popular girl in school. You come in and shoot up her people and she is going to bury you. Nobody gets more attention than her!

The guy already went to police and said he had someone murdered, and also had some other episode where he just left school and was found downtown hours later. What does it take to get fired?

I was going to say pretty much the same thing..

Ok then he obviously has some mental health issues.

I guess background checks for employment at schools is about as thorough as background checks to buy a gun.
I'm guessing he was employed prior to the episodes, and kept his job because he is (presumably) a union member. Pure conjecture on my part, but I would bet it holds true.

The PROMISE program (Preventing Recidivism through Opportunities, Mentoring, Interventions, Supports & Education) was initiated by the Broward County School District in 2013 after a similar program had been implemented in Miami-Dade County.

The idea was that “minor misbehavior” by students should not result in an arrest if a student can be dealt with in some other way. These types of programs were also championed by the Obama administration, which encouraged efforts to reduce the "school-to-prison pipeline," particularly for minority students.

Guman takes hostages at Yountville veterans home

YOUNTVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- A man wearing body armor and armed with an automatic weapon stormed into a Napa County veterans home Friday morning and has taken at least three people hostage, according to authorities at the scene.

Law enforcement from the Napa County, Marin and the California Highway Patrol have surrounded the Veterans Home of California in Yountville, which is the largest veterans' residence community in the United States.

Oh swell. See the guy was enrolled at one of the veteran programs for PTSD but was asked to leave last week. What did I say? PTSD should be a flag on a background check.

News channel 9 in Chattanooga just released what was supposed to be the whole recording of what happened outside the school. Had a hard time watching it, the video kept crashing on me, but what you can see is interesting. You see the SRO race off, apparently jump on a golf cart, and race to the scene, but there is where it goes to crap. He just stalls around the entrance. There is supposed to be about 20 min of video, but I could never get more than 4-5 to play. Didn't see the back up get there in what I could watch.
