Remember that Athens is 100% committed to taking ALL of your visiting money. There is no free parking, they WILL arrest underage drinkers and jaywalkers and it is expensive. This is the time of the year when they make their money for the rest of the year.
Last year, Athens Clarke County arrested over 3,400 people on their 8 home games, an average of almost 500 a weekend. Don't be one of them. COPS SUCK in CLARKE COUNTY.
I plan on leaving about 5 or 530 Saturday morning from Chattanooga. Iphone map says it takes 3 hours and 15 minutes to get there. That early enough?
I would leave earlier. Traffic will suck. Think about it, most will be there by 9am or so to tailgate. I drove to Athens on monday. Take 85 to commerce ga & go south on commerce rd straight into athens. You will get barked at but its an awesome campus so plan to walk a lot. Its hilly & once we win you can howl at daddys dawgs!

Sounds like a lot of you have had good experiences at LSU. Just curious, which years did you guys go? Maybe things have changed, maybe my experience was an anomaly. I went in 2005 and I encountered hundreds of incredibly rude people. I don't think I met a single nice, hospitable, or just plain decent human being while I was there.
Just to compare, I went to the Cotton Bowl later that year and didn't meet any rude Texas A&M fans. Went to Athens the year before that and had a total of 3 people say something rude to me. Baton Rogue in 2005 was by far the worst away game experience I've ever had.
