After watching South Carolina tonight...

Did lattimore not play well? I missed the game while attending my little brother's first high school game.

He was over 100 yards, quietly though.. I saw a lot of 'first game' blues.. Not impressed though with either team.. If we play up to potential, UGA is the team to beat for the East...

Vandy got hosed big-time on the 4th down pass late in game--pass interference not called. Obvious fu by the officials...right in front of a back judge.

Definitely a missed call but it's not like they were knocking on the door. Could've changed things but you never know.

Colin Klein. Shaw is nowhere close to his level. Dude is a baller

Both are ballers and I agree with you about Shaw. I was already a Klein fan. Any guy that bleeds like him is good by me. Shaw stepped up his game tonight thought. I know Darth Visor is a happy camper.

Yeah, the missed interference call was huge. Can't see that there's really any other way to view it.

On the other hand, I've somewhat felt SC was a bit over hyped. Not a bad team, but not #9. I think losing Alshon to my Bears has been rediculously downplayed by the pundits and some fans. Not only Alshon, but Stephon Gilmore as well. Dude was a baller, Started as a true freshman.. But I'm not ready to write them off yet either. Generally a good teams biggest improvement is between week one and two.

As for Vandy, about what I expected. I'm not the biggest James Franklin fan but I do think he's a pretty good coach. There not to be overlooked.

Also, his arm strength is lacking to say the least. He has no zip on the ball and if you could force them into passing, they are beatable.

Spurrier never had much arm strength, even in college. But he didn't quite look like an 85 year old man.

Thoughts? The SEC East is wide open.

Both of those teams last night sucked. I couldn't tell if Vandy had improved that much or if South Carolina was just bad. I then realized that they were both just bad. The internal fire that helped Vandy duke it out will dwindle quickly.

Cant go much on first game of season.. but if USCjr plays like that against us, they will not be leaving with smiles on their faces.

On a side note, I cant believe I watched that game, but its been so long since I have seen a live CFB game, I just couldn't help myself.

shaw is an average passer at best. he feasted last year on crap opponents. also tonight it wasn't just a bruise, i would put good money that shaw separated his shoulder and still played and there is no telling how much damage they did to it. I don't see him lasting too long this year and their backups are crap.

I thought QB Jordan Rogers looked pretty good. He is a solid dual threat qb. For recruiting purposes, I am glad vandy lost bc they were hosting 3 of our recruits at the game. I also thought Kimbrow looked really quick in the few carries he got. Both of the teams can probably beat the vols. I am still wondering how Vandy's d-line held up so well considering their avg size was 6-3 268 lbs vs SC's O-line of 6-5 308 lbs I would have thought SC would have pounded them more on the ground with a much bigger line. IMHO, SC is not a top 10 team. Vandy could have won had the ref's not missed that blatant interference.

Mention sarcasm when it's hard for everyone to tell or when we don't know if you're just a general buffoon. Thanks.

SC looked like their defense was gassed the whole night and Vandy was exposing it by lining up quickly and going at them. The big plays for Vandy came from busted assignments from SC secondary, imo the game was sloppy from both teams.

Did we watch the same game?

After watching them tonight i realize it was the first game and it was slop. Carolina has no down field threat and Shaw probably won't last all year. They look to be a 80% percent Lattimore and a defense, that's about it. Vandy plays hard and that's becoming a trademark under Franklin. The teams that have little margin for error always seem to get hosed or a call or play is magnified, sounds familiar.
