It was a horrible call for sure. But because of VU's coach and his antics, I give exactly this many ___ sh*t's about the non-call. :)

Pragmatically, we would be 10 times better off if Vanderbilt had won that game. People are talking smack about USCe, but Lattimore was looking great by the end of the night and they still have a beastly D. The stage is set for USCe v. GA for the East.

We need to win these next three games to change that perception. This is probably the most important stretch that I've seen since I started seriously following UT football.

They're still Vandy. They would have found another way to lose.

Your right. Vandy had 8 different chances to win and could not get it done. Blaming the loss on a bad call does not hold water when SC served the win up to them multiple times. SC was sloppy. Shaw is tough. Who cares which one wins they are both in the east so we have to beat them both. We do not need to worry about who else wins an loses we need to win them all...

agree with most everyone - SC definitely not looking like a top-10 team and the non-call was as close to being robbed as you can get - they were moving the ball. personally would have liked to have seen Vandy win. would have been demoralizing to SC, and would have set up Vandy for a big let down - they didn't play that well (1st TD was an SC brain fart) and can't see them being a big factor, but it would be fun seeing them think they are and then get crushed. i'm hopeful for this season (first time in 4 years), but jury definitely still out as to whether we'll be a big factor.

That wasn't a bad call, that was Mike Slive making sure Vandy didn't win by telling the refs to swallow the whistle. How else do you explain the most obvious pass interference call by the ref in the best possible position to see it?

Watching Shaw last night was a bit like watching Casey Clausen. Tough as frickin nails. As much as I hate the Gamecocks, I really enjoy guys putting it all on the line like that. It's what makes college football great.

The announcers and commentators were all selling that he looked 100%. He didn't seem to have the burst to me that he had before the injury. That brace definitely seemed to bother him at times. He grabbed at it a few times.

All the cuts they were showing to prove this were off the other leg. I wonder if they're really watchin or just saying what they're told. ESPN is so scripted its getting ridiculous.

He didn't appear to have the burst or the strength that he had last year. As much as I don't like SC, I always liked watching Lattimore run (no homo). I hope he gets it back (sometime between the end of the season and the NFL combine).

I wouldn't assume that last night's game was any indication of how the Gamecocks will be playing by the time we get them. First game of the season, on a national stage, bunch of 18 to 22 year old kids. Add to that the fact that it was Lattimore's first game back after a pretty major injury. Lots of rust and jitters to overcome. I guarantee they will improve.

On a separate note, that blown pass interference call was just awful.

It blows my mind that 7 years in, Spurrier still hasn't found a dropback passer.

Yeah, I made that comment last night---for the 15th time. What is up with that? Has SS gotten to lazy to really pursue the right guy? You know back in the day he spent lots of xtra time with Danny W. I just don't think SS wants it that bad---anymore.

Tennessee should whip both of these teams.

I think Candy gave South Carolina their absolute best game, one that will not be replicated again the rest of the year. It got them close to the upset, but at the end of the day, Candy is still Candy. Bad call or not.

I thought Lattimore looked pretty good for shaking off the rust.

Aaaaaaaaand the SEC refs are at it again. Nice going.

Man, that was WAY too obvious. Maybe we should just do away with officials. Let the teams go out and do whatever-----and the best, toughest team wins. Radical? No worse than allowing ?????officials to determine the outcome. I know lots of gamblers had Vandy on the money line.

I thought he looked a little bit sluggish. He had some big chunks of yards, but it was mostly running straight lines through pretty big holes. At least, that's how it seemed to me.

I doubt he leaves early.

He scrambled last year all the time. That is what really beat us was him picking up 2nd or 3rd and longs. If Eric Crouch can make it a full season he could too.

Tonight, I saw two SEC East teams we are capable of beating.

Eric Crouch played in the big 12 back then with alot of Kansas, Iowa State, colorado, KState, TXTech, Missouri that werent the most physical defenses in the country. Shaw is already hurt and he hasnt played LSU, Ga, Auburn, Fl, etc yet and Big McCullers hasnt hit him yet. Im betting he dont finish the season.....

Everything to gain and every to lose on this game.

If we lose, the fan base will be on suicide watch and hoping Dooley gets fired immediately.

If we win, the team and fans will be ecstatic if we win, in which we'll have a little momentum when we play Florida.

I hope the latter comes true tonight.

First game, on the road, SEC opponent. USCe didn't look top 10 at all, but the season is young, and they have a coach that has a track record of winning (even there). Im gonna wait before casting them off just yet.

The smartest post yet. USC had a couple of D breakdownqs.....lost the starting QB for a half in the first game of the season. Vandy is not that bad.....they have many returning players. Bottom line they won the game and are still leading the east and are in the top 10.

My opinion has always been based on direction. They lost critical players on both sides of the ball and do not have equal players coming back. I think one of the announcers last night said they'd won 5 games by a total of 13 pts last year. UF, UT, and UGA should be improved.

I live in MO and know more about the Tigers than the avg Vol fan. Until last night, I thought they would lose to all 4 of the tops in the SECE. They may be a better team even with a hobbled OL than USCe.

Id be worried about the QB position if Im USCe. With a healthy Shaw they are contenders. Without? Hard to say right now.
