Biden official Backs Off Gas Stove Ban talk after backlash

A Biden-appointed commissioner at the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission tried to turn down the temperature after a report that the agency was considering a national ban on gas stoves because they emit harmful pollutants.

Richard Trumka Jr. told Bloomberg that the appliances are a “hidden hazard” in a story published Monday.

Trumka — the son of late AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka — later clarified that any new regulation would only pertain to new appliances after he was called out on Twitter by Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.).

“Over 40 million American households use gas stoves,” Palmer wrote. “This type of power should never have been given to unelected bureaucrats and it is time for it to end.”

Bureaucrats shouldn't have the power to "ban", "outlaw" or impose new regulations. Only congress should be have the power to pass such measures and they only become law once POTUS signs it.

If the Rs really wanted to impress people they would pass legislation taking away any such power from the various agencies.

The power of the purse.. Shut her down. Take a stand.
Of course that won't happen. The pressure will be TOO MUCH.

I tell you what..after seeing our DOJ and FBI..I would make that a line in sand. make it so transparent that the MSM couldn't avoid.
That would be a 1 base single..but singles are all they can get ATP with this roster.

R-22 was phased out in the late 2000's. It was in service from the early 70's for nearly 50 years. R-410A made it less than 15 years and now the government has declared it John Kerry dangerous. The government needs to be reeled back in.
...declared it "John Kerry dangerous". I might have to "Biden borrow" that phrase in the future.

Banning new gas appliances isn't acceptable either. That simply means we are Cuba when the old gas appliances wear out. There's already been talk in some places about banning NG connections.

Yeah, you'll see Amazon stuff obviously made by one Chinese company selling under forty different brand names.
Amazing how the government started out with noble intentions and now probably accounts for more spilled fuel than a tanker ship holds and an entire new industry making things that never had to be made.

It's a twist on "Who is policing the police?" and "absolute power corrupts absolutely". We have no oversight with respect to the government. To some extent the Supreme Court can slap down presidents, agencies, and congress; but there's nothing to check the Supreme Court. That one institution is the closest thing we have to a dictatorship; the one thing holding it back is that it's rule by committee, and the committee isn't in lockstep ... yet.

It’s already done. A probing salvo fired and then they walk it back. Probing, testing, gauging response and pushback so they can then determine the course of action to slide it into some other nefarious green new deal type bill, making it seem innocuous to the majority so they don’t give it a second thought.

Making it only apply to new appliances is still a gross overstepping.
