Agency to Consider Federal BAN of Gas Stoves Over Health Hazards

Reagan - almost 200%
Bush II - over 100%
Obama - 74%
From the article:

"The national debt under President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933–1945) increased by a whopping 1,048 percent. However, he only added about $236 billion to the debt in dollar figures, which pales in comparison to debt increases under recent presidents."

Reagan - almost 200%
Bush II - over 100%
Obama - 74%
Just for technical clarification, no President can directly increase the Federal debt as all spending is the function of Congress. Of course, Presidents propose the budget, but Congress is the only body who can actually make it happen.

Most people used wood burning stoves or fire places 50yrs ago to, you're saying child asthma wasn't as bad? Its all just BS. The left exploiting children again for more regulations.

Believe it or not, my parents had a microwave oven in the early 70's, but stoking that stove with firewood was a real PITA. I'd say 100 years ago is more realistic.

The reason the ban is being considered has to do with the link between NG stoves and childhood asthma.

Uh huh. I have mild asthma - always have. It's never been triggered by a gas stove. It has been triggered by whatever grows in certain locations. There is one thing I always had to be careful with once I figured out it was a trigger, and that was the fumes from solder. One son has much worse asthma and the other pretty mild; I have the feeling research would show that it's genetic. All this stuff would make old Salem proud. Find a culprit - any culprit - and burn it at the stake to sanctify the decision.

Here's another point. We can burn gas at the point of need, or we can burn gas to produce electricity. Neither is totally efficient, but there are tremendous losses in producing electricity, losses in transmission, again huge losses in converting electricity to heat, and losses to turn electric motors. Battery charging and discharging has plenty of losses, too - not to mention the energy consumption that goes into producing and delivering batteries that have very finite life spans and decreasing efficiency from the first use.

So here we are in a weird society wanting to curb energy use, and doing everything in their power to increase energy use. All because it's just so easy to neglect what it takes to generate and transmit electric power ... unless it's coal or oil, of course. It just comes out of a plug right? If you charge your car, cook, or heat your house, there obviously is no pollution from electric power. BTW, I worked in electric power generation - nuclear, so I certainly have no reason to consider electric power an evil, but it has a place, and so does NG.

Nonsense! I scrambled some eggs and boiled a pot of curry this morning right on top of my ole trusty gas burning Bosch. It didn't bother the little wimpy kid down the road with asthma at all.

Curry! And all this time I thought you might be a heathen. I think I could live on curry over rice.

NY fired up over potential gas stove ban: It's 'not wanted'

I can understand the concern over NG use in old apartment building like you find throughout cities in the NE and in their crowded neighborhoods. Every time you see the news about a house or apartment building blowing up, you kinda know what the cause is likely to be. NG is dangerous if not treated with respect; but utility companies, just like any other company, want profits, so they neglect infrastructure until it comes back to burn them. You won't find many at the top of any corporate food chain who would trade their fortunes in salaries, bonuses, and stock dividends to foster, maintain, and grow the business. Still when the weather gets bad, my gas service has always been more reliable than my electric power - we even had gas during that really bad snowstorm in the '90s when the water went away because the utility lost electric power to pump water.

My wife is Thai so we eat curry over rice multiple times throughout the week.

Lucky guy. First time I had curry was in Japan. It was that or fishy stuff served up in the plant cafeteria, so I had curry every day, and loved it.

What's the commonality? Republican presidents following dem presidents and legislatures. Dems create a lot of unfunded crap, start wars, and strip the military; then the adults have to come along and pay the bills. Granted Bush 2 was little better than a generic dem ... and a fool, but we've had so many fools in the WH that we don't much notice them anymore.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Says Gas Stoves Reduce ‘Cognitive Performance.’ She Has A Gas Stove

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Says Gas Stoves Reduce ‘Cognitive Performance.’ She Has A Gas Stove

Now there's an argument the anti-gassers might have, but I'd guess her stove and her cognitive problems are completely unrelated unless she manages to light up the place while using her stove. Not quite the argument the anti-gassers want to use though.
