Huh? Luther Campbell's cousin never qualified. Brent Schaeffer was not him.

Anyway, Ainge isn't going anywhere. Wishful thinking for some of you fickle fans, maybe, but he's not going anywhere.

Yes, I am serious.  2 years away from football, maybe even 10 would be great for ainge.

Oklavol, just because you don't like Ainge doesn't mean that 2-10 years off from football would do him good. Besides, I would suspect that this mission work is just a rumor.

Yeah every school needs a little thug in them....nothing like competing with Miami and FSU for that title.....next thing we'll here is you can't spell THUG without UT.

Speaking of which what happened to Luther Campbell's little cousin?

That was the correct move. Schaeffer was TROUBLE and was not and is not needed by UT!

can anyone confirm this? is he a mormon? i heard this from a very reliable source.
Freak?

That is a rumor started by opposing fans and has no basis in fact. His family doesn't do missions.

It would only do him good if his intention was to never play organized football again. ''Use it or lose it'' Heck the Vols can't take a bye week off to heal without losing an edge, they come back and usually get nailed. What Ainge needs(Iv'e typed this about 20 times) is a NFL grade pocket passer mechanics coach to intensly coach him 1-1 ala Weiss and some good therapy would'nt hurt either, the kid obviously wants to play or he'd not be in uniform. Hello McFly! Its a coaches responsibility to contantly evaluate players and provide them with a support structure. (possibly why Weiss just got a huge contract extension?!) It's obvious to me CPF is unable or stubbornly blind to either of these options, which if he went that route IMO could make next season Ainge's comeback of the year bid.

fisrt they say he is a skirt chaser now is a mormon going to do missionary work. I dont belive any of this unless it comes directly from ainge himself. This is a just another message board rumor with no merit.

Fulmer just needs to admit that he made a mistake by kicking scheaffer off the team and keeping Ainge. Brent is a bad mo-fo and Fulmer messed up.

if we would of had brent this year. we would not be struggling to go to a bowl.

Brent would not solve this team's problems

Speaking of thug... when I become a coach, especially at the HS level. I will eliminate all of that CRAP and enforce an NBA-like rule about dress code and manner. At a HS level, it is more important to get these kids ready for life, as 95% of them don't go on to play again. Now, if every coach did this, then there would be no worry about thugs in the NCAA. They would be well mannered players and CPF wouldn't have to kick them off the team. Heh... I rambled on again.

When Mapu went on his mission, the Vols knew coming in that he would be gone. He was actually scheduled to leave after the first year but came back for his Soph season if I remember correctly.

Surely this would have been public knowledge, just like Mapu's if it were true, unless he has had somekind of "come to Joseph Smith" religious awakening.

Ok, I'll flame on you, poser. First of all, you thought Ainge was better than Cutler a week ago. Now, you're saying that Ainge sucks, which is what we've been telling YOU all along. Now, you're going to pull this hindsight BS and say that we would win if Schaeffer were our QB. (Yes, it's Schaeffer, not Scheaffer, atleast learn how to spell a player's name)

Ainge threw 17 Td's last year and Schaeffer didn't do jack compared to Ainge.

I guess you're Nostradamus's nephew, and knew all along that Ainge would have a bad year.

You need to put the spoon down before you cut yourself, Einstein.

article form south bend tribune:

Schaeffer surfaces

Former Tennessee quarterback Brent Schaeffer, playing this season at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., hopes to return to the Southeast Conference next season with Florida, Auburn and Ole Miss among his favored destinations.

Schaeffer, a sophomore from Deerfield Beach, Fla., whom Notre Dame tried hard to recruit during the Willingham regime, is also reportedly considering North Carolina State and Wisconsin.

He has led the California junior college to a 7-1 record, heading into Saturday's matchup with Merced (2-6). COS had been 13-47 over the past six seasons before Schaeffer's arrival. He has completed 114 of 214 passes for a school-record 2,571 yards. His touchdown-to-interception ratio is 28 to 2. He also has seven rushing touchdowns.

Schaeffer, the first true freshman in the SEC in 59 years to start an opener, did not play in last year's ND-Tennessee game. He suffered a broken collarbone the previous week against South Carolina.

Maybe he can get through the whole year without thumping a fellow students melon while said peer is lying on the ground. And if he does, maybe there won't be any video cameras around.

Jason and CBC, take it to the PM if you want to flame each other. We shouldn't have to read it. Thanks.

I guess poor pocket presence and bad attitude don't affect the recruiting rankings.
