Ainge DUI

Saw his mug shot... did not look drunk....

KPD is crooked as you can get... would not surprise me one bit if its just another cop wanting his name in the paper and a story to tell his family at the reunion.

Until they clean OUT the KPD, and its stops being the good ol boy club where they think they can do/say/treat people anyway they like because they have a badge... I have no faith in ANY arrest they make.

The corruption in this town amazes me, its all about who you know and how much money you have to give the court system.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

But I know cops, and if they want you they will get you. I'm sure you follow the law. But you can't expect me to believe some shady tactics aren't done.

Why was he not kept for the full 8 hours?

Any speculation on that?
Where I work it is a judicial commissioners job to set bond/bond conditions. Typically a domestic assault carries 12 hr/ public intox till signs of sobriety present but some will be able to leave sooner I've seen DUIs at a low level be processed in and leave before the ink dries on the report if the booking wait is low and a good bondsman is around so that is more of a policy than case law. If I was guessing he was going to be if guilty a low bac or pill related DUI case and maybe did poor on tasks but not terrible where a longer wait would be necessary.... Sometimes I like to explain in a manner like this when telling people about DUI. If you are walking down the street there is no bac for PI/PD. if the officer believes your a danger to yourself or others your going in that's going to take a while to sleep off in most cases. Now a DUI might just be 5 beers real quick and a buzz. Within an hour of booking the buzz may be done and ready for exit. I really have no definitive answer on that only thoughts our process is most likely different than KPDs and Knox county jails.

Suspicion = anything that cop wishes to lie, makeup or think is truthful which is why in every stop I have had over the last 20 yrs {and everyone I know} have been asked if they had been drinking. No DUIs, never been arrested for it either.

.....[a slew of tests] which are designed to be failed. Over 90% will fail one while sober.

Charged yes, convicted of DUI not yet. You take the tests, any of them, you will be adjudicated as DUI by the officer. Now the fight is uphill for you, downhill for the prosecution.

You also run the risk of the tests being + when they should not be. The machines, the labs, the testers are all fallible.

Included in your training is how to interogate on the walk-up after a pullover including the psychological aspects of being the victim of such a pullover. you know exactly where you stand, what to ask and how to exact a DUI arrest.

:good!:

I'm just gonna leave this alone as your probably another police hater. A bad experience or something and there all scum and though I don't understand it I will leave it alone. I will say however I hope your next experience is better than the one that soured you towards law enforcement as not all are bad people trying to Hurt you or anyone else most are great people wanting to make our communities safer and wanting to help make our world a better place. Saying we are all bad or dirty would be the same as all mechanics are bad people, all doctors cheaters, all teachers corrupt, and all ditch diggers stupid. It doesn't make sense to me but just my opinion and we all have those and know what they smell like.... Anyway thanks for your outlook.

So you would have us in anarchy because laws don't stop everyone all the time. That makes sense...

yes because removing unnecessary laws from the books clearly equals anarchy. If just appears many have a different view of when a crime actually occurs

I don't disagree about removing unnecessary laws, but that does not mean that laws do not prevent some people from doing things.

I have met plenty of GOOD cops in my lifetime. People that are actually there to protect and serve...

Unfortunately non of them are in Knoxville...

KPD is crooked from the ground all the way to the top, and I dont say this without personal experience in the matter.. I have seen payoff's happen first hand. A friends uncle has 11 DUI arrests and still has his license all because he was childhood best friends with the right person...

Bottom Line is KPD is crooked, anyone who lives in Knoxville and has never seen it, is blind or a liar.. and it does not stop there, it leaks fully into the court system...you want to get away with a crime? Find out which lawyer in town plays golf with the judge on weekends.. 10g to the lawyer.. another 10g that lawyer can conveniently leave in said Judges Golf Bag.. and you come back on monday to all charges being dropped.

Its sad, but its the truth

Posting in this thread after reading it to say you don't understand why people are reading and posting in this thread.

I don't get it.

I read the first couple and the last couple.

Just seems to me that focus ought to be on people playing at UT now, not guys from years before. He hasn't played for UT in 5 years.

Is there a Tn state law which requires a mandatory stay of 8 hours?

If you want to talk about people playing at UT now, I believe we have a few threads for that.

This could have been any of us...hang in the Ainge

Well actually it wouldn't have been me. I don't drive after I've been drinking. Don't wanna risk my life and certainly no one else's. I have a wife and 2 teenage drivers so I got no sympathy for anyone who drinks and drives and puts them at risk when there's absolutely never a reason to get behind the wheel drunk.

I love me some Ainge and I wish him the best. I enjoy listening to him and love his passion as an ambassador for UT football. .... but if he was drunk he got what was coming to him and needs to pay a price.

When people understand that current DUI laws do nothing to decrease deaths or accidents maybe things will change. It's not a preventative law, it's another revenue generator for states. If you want to stop drunk driving you have to stop the drunk from starting the car. If we invested in that technology then I would support it

Tennessee is doing this more with the mandatory ignition interlock device now after first offense DUI

Tennessee

Moreover, if a driver refuses a Breathalyzer at the scene, he or she will be required to have an interlock device installed in his or her vehicle

These are expensive

How do you expect to keep the ones off the road that fail to get caught, unless you do some sort of enforcement?

Ahhh yes. No evidence to convict so they still gonna get that money.

I love it.

The evidence is your refusal.

Remember, when you sign for your license, you agreed to abide by that stipulation. Pretty simple
