Oh. Look. It's "Mr. All High and Mighty"
Maybe you should come down off your high horse with us common folk who make mistakes or use poor judgement.
bet you'd be singing a different tune had EA got in a car accident and a family member of yours was involved and died.
I don't agree with chalking it up as a "mistake". It shows more than just poor judgment. It shows his lack of consideration for others that share the same road with him. Just because it's so prevalent in our society, doesn't make it acceptable. People deeming it as just a mistake give the perception to those around them that it acceptable to make such mistakes. That's why this issue is not getting better. It's a cycle that is perpetuated by those who have been offenders themselves in an attempt to minimize the poor decision(s) they made in the past.
Personally I think Ainge is a good dude but he's def. dropped a notch down in my book (as if he cares... i know). I drive a lot, my wife drives a lot, we drive a lot, and our kids are with us when we drive (2 under 4). Drunk driving is so preventable yet THOUSANDS of people, innocent people, die every year because some drivers continue to make the CHOICE to get behind the wheel and drive under the influence.
For the record, fortunately Ive never lost anyone to a drunk driving related accident (knock on wood) but Ive read about TOO MANY stories about innocent people dying because of stupid people making stupid decisions. :hi:
- On average, a drunk driver will drive 80 times under the influence before their first arrest.
- Every 53 minutes in America, a life is lost in a drunk driving crash; that equates to 27 people every day.
- For drivers under 21, the U.S. has a No Tolerance policy which does not allow any alcohol to be in the blood system while behind the wheel. The consequences could include expensive fines, loss of license, or jail.
- Every 90 seconds, someone is injured from a drunk driving incident.
- In 2011, 9,878 people were victims of drunk drivers.
- Between 50 and 75 percent of the people who have had their licenses revoked due to driving under the influence drive illegally without their license.
- Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for teens, and roughly one-third of these accidents involve alcohol or another substance.
- Thanks to law enforcement around driving under the influence, since 1980 the fatality rate of drunk driving has been cut in half.
- 211 children were killed in drunk driving crashes in 2010. Of those 211 children, 62 percent were riding in the car with the impaired driver.
- Kids and teens who get involved with alcohol at a young age are 7 times more likely to be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lives.
- Drunk driving causes approximately one-third of all traffic fatalities in the United States.
- During the year 2007, alcohol-impaired driving was involved in the deaths of nearly 13,000 Americans.
- On average, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes.
- Roughly three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related collision at some point in their life.
- Over 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics in 2007. This number is less than 1% of the 159 million self-reported episodes of drunk driving in that year.a
- To reach a BAC level of .08 g/dL, a man weighing approximately 170 pounds would need to consume four standard drinks in one hour on an empty stomach. A woman weighing about 140 pounds would need to consume three drinks in one hour.
- The highest rates of drunk driving occur among drivers aged 21-24. This age group makes up 35% of alcohol-impaired drivers involved in fatal collisions.
- According to one study, a first-time drunk-driving offender has already driven drunk more than 80 times before being arrested.
- In 2006, nearly 20% of all 16- to 20-year-old drivers killed in motor vehicle collisions had a BAC level of .08 g/dL or higher.
