Ainge DUI

Oh. Look. It's "Mr. All High and Mighty"

Maybe you should come down off your high horse with us common folk who make mistakes or use poor judgement.

bet you'd be singing a different tune had EA got in a car accident and a family member of yours was involved and died.

I don't agree with chalking it up as a "mistake". It shows more than just poor judgment. It shows his lack of consideration for others that share the same road with him. Just because it's so prevalent in our society, doesn't make it acceptable. People deeming it as just a mistake give the perception to those around them that it acceptable to make such mistakes. That's why this issue is not getting better. It's a cycle that is perpetuated by those who have been offenders themselves in an attempt to minimize the poor decision(s) they made in the past.

Personally I think Ainge is a good dude but he's def. dropped a notch down in my book (as if he cares... i know). I drive a lot, my wife drives a lot, we drive a lot, and our kids are with us when we drive (2 under 4). Drunk driving is so preventable yet THOUSANDS of people, innocent people, die every year because some drivers continue to make the CHOICE to get behind the wheel and drive under the influence.

For the record, fortunately I’ve never lost anyone to a drunk driving related accident (knock on wood) but I’ve read about TOO MANY stories about innocent people dying because of stupid people making stupid decisions. :hi:

  1. On average, a drunk driver will drive 80 times under the influence before their first arrest.
  2. Every 53 minutes in America, a life is lost in a drunk driving crash; that equates to 27 people every day.
  3. For drivers under 21, the U.S. has a No Tolerance policy which does not allow any alcohol to be in the blood system while behind the wheel. The consequences could include expensive fines, loss of license, or jail.
  4. Every 90 seconds, someone is injured from a drunk driving incident.
  5. In 2011, 9,878 people were victims of drunk drivers.
  6. Between 50 and 75 percent of the people who have had their licenses revoked due to driving under the influence drive illegally without their license.
  7. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for teens, and roughly one-third of these accidents involve alcohol or another substance.
  8. Thanks to law enforcement around driving under the influence, since 1980 the fatality rate of drunk driving has been cut in half.
  9. 211 children were killed in drunk driving crashes in 2010. Of those 211 children, 62 percent were riding in the car with the impaired driver.
  10. Kids and teens who get involved with alcohol at a young age are 7 times more likely to be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lives.
  11. Drunk driving causes approximately one-third of all traffic fatalities in the United States.
  12. During the year 2007, alcohol-impaired driving was involved in the deaths of nearly 13,000 Americans.
  13. On average, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes.
  14. Roughly three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related collision at some point in their life.
  15. Over 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics in 2007. This number is less than 1% of the 159 million self-reported episodes of drunk driving in that year.a
  16. To reach a BAC level of .08 g/dL, a man weighing approximately 170 pounds would need to consume four standard drinks in one hour on an empty stomach. A woman weighing about 140 pounds would need to consume three drinks in one hour.
  17. The highest rates of drunk driving occur among drivers aged 21-24. This age group makes up 35% of alcohol-impaired drivers involved in fatal collisions.
  18. According to one study, a first-time drunk-driving offender has already driven drunk more than 80 times before being arrested.
  19. In 2006, nearly 20% of all 16- to 20-year-old drivers killed in motor vehicle collisions had a BAC level of .08 g/dL or higher.

When administered a blood test for DUI. How long does it take to get results back?

When testing for booze or pills?

Depends on where it was sent for testing can take month's unless its sent for a homocide or high felony where they tend to expedite the process...

The "quick test" takes about 20 minutes. The full analysis is anywhere from a day to a week. The quick test is what they charge and book you on, the full panel is what is used when the case reaches court.

They have no results of the test. Said it would be awhile. That's why I thought it was odd.

So you can hold a person indefinetly while waiting for results?
Bond was set as if this person is already guilty of a DUI.

What about 90 year old men running red lights ?

Interesting stats. I know tired drivers, texting drivers, and on the phone drivers can be just as bad also.

Tennessee is doing this more with the mandatory ignition interlock device now after first offense DUI

Tennessee

These are expensive

How do you expect to keep the ones off the road that fail to get caught, unless you do some sort of enforcement?

Here's an idea. Why don't we use the revenue from DUI to install these on prior offenders cars. Also, offer a tax credit to those who electively purchase n install one. Lowering the legal BAC is BS.

At least he kicked the painkiller habit.

Did he??

It never said he was driving drunk. It only said 'driving under the influence', though it may have suggested alcohol's involvement.

The sad fact is those who have developed a dual addiction usually do so because they like the way the drugs feel in combination with one another.

Hopefully this is not the case and he was not using alcohol and opiates together... better yet, let's hope he was falsely accused and arrested. However, it seems unlikely, given his past actions.

He's a VFL and I hope other VFL's (current/former staff/players and fans) let him know he still has the support that comes with being a Vol For Life and extend a hand to help pull him back on the wagon.

You will never have to do it alone when you're a VFL! (unless maybe you decide to be a rapist, a murderer, both, or any other similar type of felonious criminal)

756 posts in one day to talk about a former player's DUI arrest and what you think of the cops. I don't get it.

Left out 235lbs firemen and I would bet there is plenty of talk on Gator boards about a former star player commiting murder

I'm just gonna leave this alone as your probably another police hater. A bad experience or something and there all scum and though I don't understand it I will leave it alone. I will say however I hope your next experience is better than the one that soured you towards law enforcement as not all are bad people trying to Hurt you or anyone else most are great people wanting to make our communities safer and wanting to help make our world a better place. Saying we are all bad or dirty would be the same as all mechanics are bad people, all doctors cheaters, all teachers corrupt, and all ditch diggers stupid. It doesn't make sense to me but just my opinion and we all have those and know what they smell like.... Anyway thanks for your outlook.

That's ironic since doctors make people take tests they don't need for more insurance money, teachers change answers on standardized test to keep certification and job, and I've never seen a ditch digger.

I bet the car lot that lets him drive that new truck appreciates the tlc he is showing it....also it must be a plus having the dui lawyer as one of your sponsors...

Nope the way it works is you draw blood for evidence the probable cause for arrest was the sobriety tasks themselves and whatever driving was exhibited.... The bond is just a guarantee to show in court but if it is 5k you post 10% thru a bondsman or the whole amount if private pay as a guarantee to appear in court if guilty it will count towards fines payed. If you are found not guilty you can ask the judge for an order to release the money back to you and get it at a clerks office. Sorry for grammar I can't stand the I phone typing abilities. That test if it is like the one I know goes into a box and is sealed and sent to the crime lab. That box would then be opened by a tech and then csi stuff would commence. Hope that helps

Mid summer publicity stunt for one of their scummy advertisers.

That was my thought as well. Jbay lost a lot of listeners over the tony deal. What better way to stir up the app and ratings. Get the listeners to tune in!

They have no results of the test. Said it would be awhile. That's why I thought it was odd.

I haven't been following this thread closely. If one were to assume that Ainge had a blood test drawn, I can tell you from work in the legal field that those results can be delayed for months by the back log in the TBI system. In fact, some of those tests are delayed so long that charges are ultimately dropped.
