EA?? Really?? Lol
You would take one look at me and say, ok probably not for EA....Brock Lesner would have a great shot, but not EA. Lol. Are we really defending a freaking drunk that's driving a vehicle with a chance to kill our loved ones? Unbelievable!

I'm not defending EA at all. I think he obviously made a very poor decision. You are a professional firefighter and with that comes the responsibility of being disciplined and detached from any emergency situation in order to do your job. It's after you get home and lives aren't on the line, you engage a speed bag to vent, run, cry or whatever.

Your right, and for the most part we all do. But IF it were my wife...killed or hurt by a drunk...all bets are off then....I have zero tolerance for drunk drivers.Ive never hurt any of them to this date, even "care" for them after the victims are treated...but, like I said, if it were my wife!!!
As a paid and professional firefighter I agree with this post. I've seen it all as a senior firefighter and react the same way every time. When I leave my house to go to work my feelings are left at the door. When I leave the firehouse after a 24 hr shift I leave my work and everything that happens in that 24 hrs at the door. You should learn to keep your feelings and work seperate. It's the only way to make to retirement in the firehouse. Do your job and go home.I'm not defending EA at all. Just as bad as a drunk driver? Really? Not a chance, nobody thinks there above the law. But if you think scumbags aren't ruffed up from time to time, not beating, but just not handled with gentle hands....your probably a good clean citizen that would be the victim. ..were here for you brother and will take care of you, drunks want get the same!First off, no one is defending drunk driving.
YOU made a stupid comment about letting your feelings and emotions dictate your treatment of people that its your freaking job to care for, and then go on with that "I can do what I want " law enforcement/gov official attitude.
You are not above the law. It applies to officers and firefighters too. Seeing as how you believe you are, you aren't fit for the job. You are just as bad a drunk. That's why you're getting called out.

If he's guilty, it wasn't a mistake. You can't mistakenly get drunk, mistakenly get in your car, mistakenly turn it on, and mistakenly drive it.
The police may have mistakenly charged him. He may very well be innocent of this charge. But if he did it. He did it on purpose.
B.S. mistakes happen. Getting drunk and driving isn't a mistake. It is a planned event. You put the drink to your mouth without having a ride home. It's that simple. Its stupid and I have done it. I got smarter and quit. It shows a gross lack of maturity and selfishness.
