Ainge Will Stay; Meachem Not Sure

I think they should both wait until they are evaluated by NFL scouts and have projections where they woudl be drafted. If its early 1st round, I think its probably in their best interest to leave early.

From the sound of it, I don't think Ainge is even going to look into it. He's already said he'll be in Knoxville for his senior season. Very smart decision for him.

Meachem is a top 20 pick. Tennessee's bowl game will be his final college appearance.

What if Ted Ginn and Calvin Johnson both leave early as well. Do you think Meach gets picked ahead of one of both of them? Mel Kiper's 1st round has Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Jarrett, Ted Ginn, and Jeff Samardzija. No mention of Meachem... even though I know he's worthy of it.

Meachem would certainly be picked ahead of Samardzija, probably ahead of Jarrett. He and Ginn have radically different skill sets. Who was picked first would be decided by team need. Johnson is the only one on that list I am certain would be picked ahead of Meachem.

Calvin Johnson reminds me of Mike Williams, big guy. I think he may bust, maybe not, but I think he will.

I absolutely love how someone who has no knowledge about Meachem's future, besides posting on an internet message board 24/7, can be so sure about what he'll be doing this time next year.

If all of these talented juniors leave early... it's going to make this draft very rich in WRs. We might see WRs like Jarrett or Samardzija in the 2nd round.

Easy killer... we're all entitled to our opinion.

I wonder if his decision would change if Cutcliffe left to take a HC position. Just speculation, but I think the idea of working with Cutcliffe for another season played in his decision to stay in Knoxville one more year.

Calvin is definitely the top receivr as far as career and probable draft status. I can go with that. I don't think anyone beats him. After that, it's a toss up for me and goes back to team need. Samardzija could go next if a team lacks the super tall and effective fast receiver. He won't necessarily have to have full breakaway speed. The only thing Meach will get scrutinized over is his durability. He has had a string of aggravations that has kept him out of a large portion of games in his career, but he demonstrates a raw, but disciplined talent that does not hold second to very many. The others, I haven't watched enough to comment.

It's called logic, cowboy. Meachem can A) go the NFL and cash a big check or B) stay in Knoxville and play for the glory of ol' UT and its oh so appreciative fan base. Unless he has some sort of chemical imbalance in his brain, that's not a hard one to predict.

Durability really hurt Donte Stallworth's draft position.

True, and that was my point to some degree. I think you only see Meach in orange next year if he needs to prove that he can play complete season. Freak injuries happen on and off the field, but he has had the bug in the past, and has played some game less than 100% this year. Swain as well.

I was being sarcastic. Donte Stallworth never played a full season and was a top 15 pick.

I think Meach could sit down for the rest of the season and still be a 1st round lock.

i dunno about that. Calvin Johnson is waaay ahead of Meachum.

Dwayne Jarrett, Sidney Rice, Jason Hill, Jarrett Hicks, Samardzija, Ted Ginn jr. Caldwell

i think he is in one of the best WR classes and might go higher after another breakout year.

top that off with Peterson, Adams, Thomas, Moses... just not sure one year will put Meachum on Day 1. For us, let's hope not. :)

That affects his paycheck how?

I didn't mention paychecks. I'm sure his contract is better than mine. And we've all heard that you have more than you can spend in a lifetime. I'm still waiting for your donation.

If Meachum is a projected 1st rd pick(which he should be) then he goes pro. If for some reason he falls to the 2nd rd,I believe he comes back.

Ainge says he is coming back now,but if the scouts say he will be a 1st rd pick,he would be foolish not go pro too.
