Ainge's knee

Don't get too excited about Stephens just yet. He still hasn't shown the ability to fire the ball on the run, and he is scared in the pocket as most freshmen are in the spring of their first year.

I am even more confused about why some people are so high on B.J. Colman.

Coleman's high school tape was nice, but it was just that - a high school tape.

He has the quickest release of all of them, it seems.

Never saw him playing in person, just saw a couple of video clips. If he looks good to Coach Cutcliffe, surely he has potential. What I don't understand is looks like some people think Coleman will get a chance to play next year. No chance. His best chance to play would be 3 years later, and probably Coach Cutcliffe already left then.

Well, my point wasn't which medium you witnessed him in, it's that it was high school. There are thousands of kids who look great in HS.

Of course he looked good, he was the best player on the field all the time.He just threw the ball 50 yards down field and let his receivers run under them the majority of the time.

My point being is you can see that the intangibles are there. He has good mechanics (high release, doesn't throw off of back foot etc) and would get in people's face in the huddle if they messed up.

Hey, I agree with you. As I said in a thread on signing day - Coleman's most amazing trait was his footwork. He throws effortlessly out of the pocket, moving laterally - to EITHER sideline. Should be versatile.

Apparently Crompton has had some bad practices, mentally, this last week.

Crompton is a goofy guy. That sucks for him because he needs to step up or I'll look dumb for taking up for him when somebody on here suggested Nick Stephens could overtake the 2nd string spot. :p

Well, if nothing else, spring practice has provided the coaching staff with yet another built in excuse. I can hear the press conference after the Peach Bowl loss to Virginia Tech now: "We tried like heck. We worked to fix things. We watched a whole bunch of film. However, we didn't have enough magic dust to adequately heal Eric's knee. Then, the "perfect storm" caused by Florida, Georgia, and Alabama finally having competent coaches simultaneously rained all over us. But, I'm going to write a letter to the season ticket holders and glad hand the rubes on the Vol Caravan. That will fix everything. Pay no attention to the lack of championships behind the curtain."

Spoken like a true CPF supporter :)

There. I fixed it for you.

Couldn't win the job outright from Schaffer as a frosh and as one of the best as a Jr. he had 6 ints and 2 tds vs. Fla, Ga, Ala and PSU. Didn't play vs LSU and Ark. Earning him the title of Eric "Big Game" Ainge.

Now before you get all silly on me. Please remember that I have stated that BGA is our best option at qb and I wish him a speedy recovery! I am just saying that this year will decide BGA's legacy at UT. Does he build off his Jr season or does he revert back to his old ways?

To be fair, the only reason Schaeffer started is because he was mobile and there were questions about the OL. Schaeffer got little playing time against UGA and then the broken collarbone ended his UT career

Crompton is more mobile and there are OL questions this year as well. So should he be starting?

I thought batting practice ended his UT career.
