Ainge's knee

as a Jr. he had 6 ints and 2 tds vs. Fla, Ga, Ala and PSU. Didn't play vs LSU and Ark. Earning him the title of Eric "Big Game" Ainge.

Not sure I can agree with lumping the Florida and UGA games in there. Against Florida he wasn't great, but considering that we ran for -11 yards, he wasn't bad. And I'm not sure what game people were watching when we played UGA, but it looked to me like and he flat out owned the Georgia defense.

Well if Rex Grossman can get the Bears to the Superbowl, we have hope!

Does anyone know how the injury occured and why Ainge wasn't wearing a green jersey? :banghead2:

Also if Ainge misses the Florida and Georgia games because of injury what do you think UT's chances are?

I heard that it was something that had been nagging him for awhile.

I say 1-1 with or w/o him.

The injury more than likely had nothing to do with contact.

He will not miss any games and will be back in June.

Look with a meniscus tear its really not a big deal. i'd bet my whole bank account that the doctors will just snip the torn part off, and he'll be back n a few wks. they won't "repair" the meniscus because that's a risky surgery that usually doesn't work. which it didn't work for me when i had mine. the meniscus can tear by just tweakin ur knee, or like in the case of mine, it tore over a long period of time. it's honestly not a big deal, he's not goin to miss any games, he will b back to practicin tops in 3 wks

I don't think they would remove it and expect him to play. Should just clean it up and get him back out there (at least I hope)

they aren't going to remove his meniscus, they will just cut the part that's torn. i did have mine removed my 2nd surgery after they screwed up "repairing" mine. stupid doctor. you can still play w/out a meniscus, not a big deal

The Tennessean sounded like the injury was significant enough that they would either repair or remove it. It didn't sound like a minor clean-up.

Removal is far from "no big deal". It will be painful and cut any future plans short.

The menisci play an important role in absorbing about a third of the impact load that the joint cartilage surface sees. It's been shown that complete removal of a meniscus can result in progressive arthritis in the joint within a decade or so in a younger patient, sooner in patients who are older with preexisting "wear-and-tear" osteoarthritis. The menisci also cup the joint surfaces of the femur and therefore provide some degree of stabilization to the knee.

Unlike a lot of you, I am 100% certain that Ainge will be the starting QB for your first game. I think missing spring "no huddle" practice will be a bigger hindrance to him than his knee.

I know what the meniscus is and what it does. my first surgery they tried to "repair" it, i was out 5 months, and that was painful. the second time when they went in my meniscus was in such bad shape they just took it out. yes its bone on bone, and not the most comfortable thing ever, but you can play on it. i played basketball for 2 more years after it. i was also back after the "removal" in a month and a half

Crompton is more mobile and there are OL questions this year as well. So should he be starting?

No. When Schaefer and Ainge competed for the spot, there was no proven starter. There is now. When a QB completes 67% of his passes, I'd say the starting job is settled.

Ainge will be out no longer than 8-12 weeks after whatever procedure he elects to do. He will be back for the start of the season. I thought he was out for the season as well after CBC told me what happened, but after careful reading and seeing what the doctors told Ainge in the Volquest article its no longer than 8-12 weeks.

Just read that Ainge will be out up to 12 weeks, what impact will this have on him next year and should crompton be ready as if he was starting next year

crompton should have that attitude regardless. but there is no way ainge will not be starting this season.

Agreed Ainge is the better option. But lets not get carried away, he ain't all that! The Wrs improved greatly last year, a luxury he won't have this year! Not to mention OL questions.

Fr.- mediocre
Soph- tanked
Jr- above average
Sr- will define EA

First half of season A; Last half C-

He was better than mediocre as a Freshman. not that it matters, but just pointing it out.

And he wasn't a C- the last half of the season.
