Ainge's knee

He was better than mediocre as a Freshman. not that it matters, but just pointing it out.

And he wasn't a C- the last half of the season.

You're right, he wasn't a C- the last half of 2006. Like a B or so.

However, he was quite mediocre his freshman year.

I have to disagree. He had an awful game against Auburn, but other than that I thought he played very well before the injury.

10-22, 132, 1 TD, 2 INTs against Alabama

Only had 55% completion %. Plus, he got very lucky the entire season. This one is more thna just stats - he missed receivers BAD BAD BAD all season. Granted, he was a freshman.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I was grading him on a scale compared to other Freshman. If he played like that now, I can definitely understand why someone would say mediocre.

In the five games that EA played in the last half of the season (Bama, SC, Vandy, Ky. and Penn State) he only had 5 TD passes vs. 4 INT's. Crompton in the seven quarters that he played vs. LSU and Arkansas had 4 TD passes vs. 2 INT's.

However, based on the passing yardage that EA passed for and the woeful OL that he had in front of him, I will upgrade his performance to C+ for the last half of 2006. He will not be a serious preseason Heisman candidate, IMO.

What was Ainge's record in those games, and how did that compare to Crompton's two games? Im also curious about how their completion % and yards compare.

What you are conveniently failing to mention is that in those 7 quarters, Crompton completed well below 50% of his passes (27 for 58) and we lost both games. He had flashes of brilliance, but don't pretend that Crompton was somehow playing better than Ainge.

Not to mention one of Crompton's TD passes was a meaningless bullcrap play in the final seconds of the Arkansas game. It didn't look like the Ark D was even trying to tackle Bret Smith.

True.

I'm not sure Cromptons numbers as a redshirt freshmen are worse then Ainges as a freshmen or sophomore though.

Ainge did improve a great deal from his sophomore season. Crompton will be better next season.

Well at least Fulmer isn't as delusional as many people here and he willl make the correct football move and start Ainge if healthy.

Where did you see that I said that Crompton was a better QB than Ainge. I only alluded to the fact that Ainge was only able to generate 5 TD passes (vs. 4 INT's) in the last half of the season, which included teams with sh***y defenses like Vandy, KY and South Carolina.

So while I think EA is a good QB, he is no Manning.

I guess then you won't include the Ainge TD against South Carolina that hit the DB in his hands in the endzone that we got for a TD?

The only games Ainge actually looked bad in the 2nd half were Alabama with 3 interceptions, and Kentucky.

On the Sunday Sports Extra on the local Knoxville TV station they said Ainge could have surgery as early as a week from tomorrow. They said he has met with UT doctors and also has Danny Ainge talking with the Celtics medical staff.

Doesn't matter. With or without it, there's no way Crompton has done anything on the field to merit talk of him replacing Ainge.

That's what worries me. Look at the injuries and the season that the Celtics are having this year.:cray:
