In '04, they beat 4-7 Stanford 31-28. Looking at their results, Stanford only got blown out once that year. There certainly wasn't a loss to anyone near as bad as the '06 San Diego State squad on the resume.

Stanford was still 4-7. They still were not respected by anyone. Judging from the way the Trojans smoked Oklahoma, they should have beat Stanford by 7 touchdowns. Sometimes teams just have an off week, I guess.
