I’d guess the officer was allowed to resign to save her pension. From a couple of other officers I know if they are fired for cause they lose their pension, at least in their depts they do. No idea on the police chief maybe the same thing there.Looks like the Mayor of Brooklyn Center, MN is up to his shorts now since he fired his city manager and the chief of police and the officer involved in the shooting have resigned. A mayor in a town with 30k people isn't much more than a figure head and this dolt is apparently in charge of it all.

I expected the officer to resign, not sure of complete motive for the chief perhaps he feels responsible.
She doesn't deserve a pension. Hopefully the family takes her to court and gets everything.I’d guess the officer was allowed to resign to save her pension. I'm saying if traffic stops were just traffic stops maybe this wouldn't be the case. Give the ticket and move on - don't try to apprehend. Like I said it's a trade off
I'm not saying traffic cops can't have guns - just that if a traffic stop ended at citations most of these incidents would not occur.
So was my comment right about the pension? A neighbor who is Dallas PD told me that just the other day. I imagine it varies by dept but don’t really know. They think it saves face with leftist anarchists. In reality, there is nothing that will satisfy them. Every cop in Minnesota could resign, they would just start bitching in Wisconsin.

Dude, what has happened to you?Exactly.
The problem is the effort to collectivize these incidents as though the fact that the person ultimately injured is black means they are the same situation. Absolutely not.
For example, putting a knee on someone's neck for 9 minutes is far different than in the heat of the moment firing a gun thinking its a taser. One has plenty of time to reflect on what he's doing. The other is reacting in seconds to an evolving situation.
The fact that both men are black is literally the only similarity. But the anti cop element of the left wants to ignore those differences simply to promote the agenda that policing is racist.
I'm not naive. There are certainly common elements in SOME cases. But if the distinctions that are meaningful aren't drawn, then that tends to minimize the occasions when it really does matter.
