Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." (Mark 2:17)
I count myself in the latter group as well.

best thread ever, congratulations AJ, very proud of you! Hoping for the best, but as one gent said, you're square with the highest court now, and in the end, that's all that matters!

Amen. Football is temporary. Salvation is eternal. Being Baptized doesnt get you into Heaven. Its just an outward sign of an internal change that came with his salvation the moment he confessed Christ is Lord. I am so proud of this young man. Most important thing a man can ever do is to simply believe. Great job AJ!!

That wasn't a baptism, he was just washing off those nasty germs from making contact with bama players.

That's awesome! He's square with the highest court and in the end that's all that will matter.

no matter how many times he gets baptized, if he did the things he's accused of and never comes clean, then he's 100% not square with the highest court

I'm not trying to start anything with you my friend, but that kind of thinking only comes from thinking someone else's sin is worse than ours. I see it a lot, especially in the south. We see our gay neighbors for example and think because of what they do in the bedroom, their sin is worse than ours and we think "At least I'm not like that." If we have sinned just once, no matter what it is, we aren't 100% square with the highest court. And we have all sinned so none of us are better than AJ Johnson. But the good news is when we receive God's grace through Christ we can all be completely, 100% forgiven.

I don't know AJ, but I hope that grace has found him. It's worth an eternity more than a football career.

There's a difference between sinning and asking for forgiveness and sinning and never admitting that you sinned. If he did what he's accused of and he never acknowledges that he did it and makes amends for it, this baptism is not shaking a sin etch-a-sketch. It becomes a hollow show that God knows is hollow.

Also there's no way that every sin is equivalent. Rapes or murders are not the same as swearing at the guy in the car next to you in traffic.

If he is found guilty of what he is accused of, I can say with 100% certainty that his "sin" is worse than any sin I may have committed. 100%. Being baptized doesn't change that.

If he did it, it doesn't matter if he's found innocent or guilty

And that can go both ways. Even if he is found guilty, it doesn't mean he committed that sin. A court of law does not equal what God knows.
