AJ Johnson's good heart

He may have taken the picture because of the Tennessee hat and the irony of the man offering him his hat. LOL

Either way, a good deed was done now go and pay it forward.

It's nice he helped him, and funny about being offered the hat. I wonder if he ever actually told the guy he was a starting LB for the Vols. Ha!!

But OP seriously...this shows how the staff is showing these kids how to be men??? AJ has been nothing but a solid kid, and it has nothing to do with what this coaching staff has done. His parents, upbringing, and everything else to this point...yes...but stretching it to put it on this staff.

You're right. But there's some people that would never dream of doing this. While I believe AJ did this out of the goodness of his heart, things like this can come as a product of maturity and other things it seems the team is having drilled in them

Let's put a moratorium on praise for players that weren't 100% Butch recruits...unfortunately that includes Sutton and Carr...if they save a family from a fire or help deliver in the birth of our next President...it was probably values instilled by our former coach...in short THINK BEFORE YOU PRAISE...Feliz Navidad

Merry Christmas

Nope

Was perceived as a brag, others as inspirational.....differences

No, you perceived it as a brag. That's on you.

AJ didn't search this man out, the man walked up to his car. He offered the man a meal, and the man in turn offered him his hat. A picture with the man in the hat is totally appropriate.

Merry Christmas.

Well, Ebenezer Scrooge is in this thread..Sheesh. The picture looks like a positive from my perspective.

That being said, Merry Christmas to everyone on VN!

I'm just wondering...has your 'Dooley Fueled' hate for Jones and his staff embittered your entire life, or do you just save all of this "Joy" to share here on VN?

While I agree that most kids do (or should) learn such traits at home, who's to say that NO ONE on this staff can't or won't have a role in at least continuing a young man's growth, accountability, maturity, etc?

I'm not saying Jones deserves ALL of the credit for AJ's character...just like you can't say Jones positively deserves NO credit at all.

Merry Christmas and Go Vols!!!

Taking pics of good deeds & posting on the net sounds more like a ego thing. Pretty sure dude in the stocking hat didn't request a picture

Your comments are despicable and you deserve to be called out on such a "trashy" statement. The thoughtless comment you made says a lot about your character not A.J. Johnson. Let me enlighten you on a few observations with regard to your character. First, how do you know Johnson's motives? You have a special gift none of us have and that is looking into a man's heart to see his motive, I don't think so. Second, you would say condescending things about an act of kindness! Third, let me play your game and you can see how it feels ... What have you done for people this Christmas season? Nothing, just what I thought! Get a life and quit putting other people down and go do an act of kindness. Whether you tell the world or not just go something nice. I wonder if it is within your character?

Yes but it's a stretch when putting it on the staff when it's just a simple gesture. One that probably had him post it more because of the man's gesture. Heck to me I would hope this could eventually get to the man's family, and hopefully a beautiful long needed reunion. Doubt that crossed his mind as an affect, but would be nice.

My problem is that when credit that isn't deserved is given then it actually gets water down when an actual thing the staff needs to be credited for comes up. But then negative stuff starts to also chip away bigger chunks because negative folks have it built up way to much. It's a vicious cycle unfortunately.

Thought I'd post it after seeing it on Instagram. While most college players are complaining about not getting paid, AJ is doing this. What integrity. Also shows the environment around the program and the coaches teaching these guys how to be men. http://twitter.com/FootballTimeMag/status/415519613896892416/photo/1

Good for AJ.

But don't get your comment, players should complain about not getting paid. What's your problem with those complaining about not getting paid.

I took his comment as being appreciative of seeing a young man publicly show more concern with giving, than receiving...especially at this special time of year.

Where have I said I hate Jones?? R u seriously calling me out with all the Dooley hate that goes through here on a daily basis. My comment has nothing to do with Dooley. So simmer it down bud. It has to do with acting like he has anything to do with AJ giving a homeless guy in a UT hat food. The kid is solid before CBJ graced his life.

Now that u want to take it there though...would u give Dooley credit for recruiting and bringing a kid like AJ to UT??? Or does ur hate filled miserable life not allow u to swallow that pill.

At the end of the day the Dooley era is the only fair comparison to the CBJ era. Like it or not it's the truth. People like to over exaggerate the dooley eras issues because of their hate. So I like to correct it. One reason is that this place would bore me if i didn't, but mainly I don't want this place to do the same thing it did to dooley to CBJ. The Legion of the Miserable was in force the last few yrs. I want UT to succeed just as much as u and every other Vol fan.
