Someinteresting comments from McCarron who states he will be visiting UT in 2 weeks. He also said the LT hiring was interesting and that LT happened to drop in while he was meeting with Kiffin and O!!

Statement On Lance Thompson

"I was surprised when i heard he leaving, I didn't really see it coming. I liked coach Lance he was a good guy. I look forward to hanging out with him when i visit Tennessee. I have always liked Tennessee. Coach Orgeron and Coach Kiffin from Tennessee have already been by to see me and tell me how much they want me."

They went on to say that he would be visiting TN on Jan. 23rd

That is AJ's quote...

I see he is a 4 star....17th at his position. Do we go after him, or would we rather have an even higher rated QB next year?

Bammer doesn't even have that many sholarships available. Didn't Kirkpatrick already say Texas A&M was his school of choice?

:Bbiteme::bammer:just goes to show that crimsonmom has no idea what he's saying. He's just trying to get a rise out of everybody here...which is the definition of an internet troll.

AJ's comments on Lance Thompson leaving

McCarron all 'Bama

St. Paul's four-star quarterback AJ McCarron is the Tide's lone signal-caller for the class of 2009. On Thursday, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder found out the news about the latest coaching change on the UA staff.

"I talked to Coach Mac (McElwain) today and he told me Coach Thompson had left. I was a little sad because it will weird seeing him on another team but its the coaching business and I guess he thought it was best for him and his family," McCarron said. "But for me it doesn't mean much. I talk to Coach Mac and Coach Saban way more than I talked to Coach Thompson. My relationship is with those two and they were the main reasons I chose Alabama. Especially Coach Saban.

"Coach Saban chose me as his number one guy early and we have been close since he arrived there. He's special to me and we get along great. As long as he is there I'm firmly committed to Alabama. Alabama is a place I that I love, and there isn't anything that is going to change that."

To be honest, I probably wouldn't take McCarron. Most people seem to think he's going to take at least 2 to 3 years to become a solid player, and really, I'd rather just get a top 3 guy next year to contribute right away, and have BJ or Nick fill in until then.

I think the majority of us realize most these AL guys are stretches. But it gives us something to speculate on. And we are certainly moving in the right direction. AL will have to fight us a lot harder for guys of this caliber in the future. Out of your list I'd say you are 100% correct on all but Patterson. I think we at least have a chance with him.

already posted but it was well known that the guy was home grown...we would have to woo the pants off of him to get a signature.

Yeah McCarron is going to be impossible to pull this late in the game. Frankly I don't know if I really want him visiting. He says things like the above AL article but then is quoted as saying he's always liked UT in another. No kid born and bred on AL football that loves Saban that much would say something like that about UT and be 100% truthful. I don't want him in some of the other visitors ears that weekend. We all know Saban has no problem playing dirty and I don't doubt for a second that he has at least mentioned using his visit to us to try and convince some other prospects.

If this is in fact true (not interested in UT in the least)...then CLK should tell him and his daddy to go the he11 on and prepare for battle in the next 4 years or until he transfers due to riding pine behind Star Jackson the next 3.

Right on! Why would we want a bogus recruit like that on our campus unless we are handing his teammates asses to them on a silver platter on the field...

it would be funny if this scheme that some have said that Saban schemed up backfired on him and he lost recruits after telling them to take their visits and recruit for Bama.:dance2:

I love how people get all giddy over a recruit and then he says he's firmly committed elsewhere and the "i don't want him anyway" comments start rolling in.

I've never gotten excited about him, but Kiffin and crew are working this hard...well then they obviously see something in him non-coach eyes can't.

If he signed, on one hand I'd be annoyed an AL kid was quarterbacking our team.

then...i'd pause...

and think about how much it would suck to be a Bammer if you had to watch Vols football reborn, thanks to the arm of one of your homegrown kids.

that would piss them off more than just about anything.

the only thing I could think of to piss off Bammers more would be if we got all Jurassic Park on the Bear and we groomed his clone to become a Vol coach.

Why is he visiting if he's "firmly committed to alabama"...

Personally I don't want him in Knoxville unless its the third Saturday in October...

That's what I said TNpride...it's kind of an insult and if I were CLK I would tell him "thanks but no thanks." If he was truly undecided, well then, that's a different story. But this crap about taking visits after you've said "I'm 100 percent Bammer" wouldn't fly in my camp.
