Is Jaydon Hill's mind made up?
--SimmonsA decision is likely to take place soon and Hill may know where he is going.
"I do not know the exact date yet, but I plan to commit early in September," said Hill. "It could be the first week, but I am not sure on the date yet.
"I know it will be Florida, South Carolina or Tennessee.
"I knew where I was going at one point, then I took a little more time and I re-evaluated everything. That is what I have been focused on the last few weeks. I am getting closer.
"I think I have an idea now, but I need a little more time."
Hill visited all three of his finalists over the summer. The last visit when to Florida, but that was his first trip to Gainesville. He has tripped to Columbia and Knoxville multiple times.
The Swamp caught Hill by surprise.
"Just being down there on campus stood out. I learned more about their tradition, their history and I got to learn more about the list of top defensive backs that have gone through there.
"I liked it a lot. I got the campus tour, I met with the coaching staff, they showed me how I would fit into their defense and it was really a great trip. I spent a lot of time with coach Charlton Warren going over film and getting more knowledge about their scheme.
"Florida really made a big first impression on me."
Although Florida did not offer Hill until mid June, the Gators are a true contender in this race. The school that offered first out of his final three was South Carolina. They offered the first of March, roughly a month before the Vols pulled the trigger.
He is feeling the love from the Gamecocks.
"Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and Will Muschamp have been on me hard from the day they offered me," said Hill. "We have built a strong relationships over the last few months. They are great coaches who have developed defensive backs too. They even developed and recruited some when they were at Florida.
"I talk to them, like all three schools every day, so they are on me hard and their consistency has been what impressed me the most from the start. That and those two being former defensive backs really help South Carolina."
Tennessee had Hill on campus three times in in June. It is an easy trek and only three hours from home, so Hill has gotten to know new head coach Jeremy Pruitt well.
"I really like coach Pruitt. He played defensive back, he has coached many great defensive backs and he knows my position as well as anyone.
"I like his energy and how has is looking to change the program. He is recruiting me very hard, so with him being the head coach, that means a lot to me."
At first, Hill had fun with the recruiting process. Now though, he called it "stressful" and he is not looking forward to telling two schools no when that time comes.
He has three big-time programs to choose from and he is looking forward to that day he is ready to make the call.
"I have been talking about it with my family almost every day," said Hill. "We sit down, talk about the pros and cons on each school and just talk it out.
"All three schools are very similar. They play in the SEC, they show me how I could play early, my visits to each school have gone very well, so it is not an easy decision.
"I just can't wait until I completely know where I want to go. I am not looking to commit, then decommit, so I am taking my time and making sure before I do anything."
