‘23 AL DL Hunter Osborne (Alabama commit)

Maybe but it doesn’t seem to be helping us recruiting the big time DL that TAMU, Bama, UGA and Clemson get. I love Garner but it’s got much more to do with other things besides his developmental abilities.
They’ve all had more recent success and I think it’s that simple. Also put more guys In the NFL. Until Tn is “relevant” we can all ask why these certain schools get certain types of players and all it boils down to is winning. Garner being here is huge imo and is putting us in big boy battles. Still gotta win some, but it’s hard when you have multiple things going against you

Has that really helped us land the true blue chip D linemen? Not really.
The man hasn't even been here for one COMPLETE recruiting cycle yet. In that limited time, he has flipped Tyre West; and, while no, West wasn't a "blue chip" prospect, he was flipped from your man-crush Kirby and your beloved UGA.

What are we considering "blue chip"? I think West would qualify.

It seems in todays recruiting world it’s more about money than anything else. Yeah I love UGA because I can be an adult and recognize they are an elite program and have an elite head coach. Obviously you can’t.

It’s got nothing to do with Garners developmental abilities or his acumen as a coach. It’s got much more to do with the current crap show that is the recruiting landscape. That was my point. But hey good for you to make ignorant assumptions.

I could never love GA no matter how elite their program or coach became. Does not work that way.

Mods, please change his name to DawgTrain or something suitable for a UGA fan.

Train, i tell ya, man...for someone who makes a great point from time to time, whenever you choose to crash and burn, you go for the gusto, dude.

See, posts like this is where you reveal your stupidity. You talk about making "ignorant assumptions" AFTER saying I can't recognize what it is you recognize in Kirby and UGA. Where you screw up is, you just made an ignorant assumption. I CAN recognize that Kirby is a top 3 coach, who has made UGA into an absolute juggernaut; and, ANYONE who thinks different is as much of a dipsh!t as most of your posts.

The reason you ignorantly assume i "can't recognize" that, is because I don't feel the need every other week to go page for page, post for post about my admiration for them...I leave that to UGA fans and, well, you. Take your name away, and put your Kirby/UGA-loving posts on a dawg board, and no one will be able to tell you apart. Do you bark at other humans, as well?

As of right now, the kids that are signing at Bama, UGA, Clemson, and Ohio St...the kids playing for championships, year in and year out.

I hope your right, bigl...West very well may be a bluechip, I hope so; right now, I look at him as VERY good. Blue chip is the creme de la creme, elite. Maybe only 20 or so each class??

So not even every 5* is a blue chip by that standard.

As they come out of HS, I would say 15-20, maybe more, maybe less each class; and the biggest bulk of them are going to those places I mentioned.

What do you think?

I would agree that there are a small number of highly rated guys that are surefire stars. I would also agree that most of them end up at those particular schools, but it's not that cut and dry. A lot of their success is still dependent on being surrounded by elite talent. Take a guy like Josh Dobbs for example. What do you think he would have done at Alabama or Ohio St.? He may have played behind some of the worst offensive lines in UT history and still broke records. His abilities don't necessarily translate to NFL success though. What might Derek Barnett have been on a Bama or Clemson defense. Both of those guys were record breakers without elite talent or great coaches to complement them. Yet both would qualify as blue chips in hindsight. Short answer is I think this staff could be playoff contenders if they can get 3-4 true blue chippers every class.

Pretty sure "blue chip" has always been considered any player ranked within the top 100 in the nation....at least it used to be.
Maybe I'm wrong for thinking blue chip = elite. Whenever i look at the top 100, I see 15 to 20 truly can't miss, rare, pure greatness...elite (Eric Berry, Julio Jones, Leonard Fournette, Nick Bosa, Trevor Lawrence, Bryce Young, Will Anderson, ect...), they were great coming out of HS, and of course they were great in college; and, 80 REALLY GOOD prospects.

Absolutely agree. That's the thing, the truly elite go to those places, and they are surrounded by other truly elite or VERY GOOD. Of course, there are outliers and busts all throughout, as well.

You can recognize how good they are without falling all over yourself to make sure everyone knows how good you think they are. It is fine to acknowledge it. You do way more than that.

About to drop a UGA.

HTF does a supposed Vol fan make that statement???!
I don't know if there's a word for a person who is not a fan of the team, but hangs out on that team's board, trying constantly to start fights, continually seeks to find ways to malign the board's team and to praise it's rivals, and obviously takes malicious pleasure in upsetting as many people as possible. Sometimes this is accomplished by glaring backhanded compliments, sometimes by pretended handwringing while expressing "concerns," sometimes by extremely exaggerated and irrational "frustrations," all consonant with continuous desire to make threads and the site itself less usable and unenjoyable by derailing discussions with hostile bickering ad nauseum. All that with frequent appeals to himself as being "objective" as cover, protestations which double as his occassion to mock and deride our fans and the site. Is there a word for this kind of behavior?

Tyree West was once rated a five-star Prospect! He only started the decline after noise of him decommitting from Georgia came out. He dropped 70 spots from the 1st of December till early signing day December 15th!
