Five-star edge rusher Jared Smith of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., just told me Tennessee is definitely "at the top" of his list after his official visit to Knoxville this weekend. I asked whether that meant the Vols were his leader or one of a few teams standing out to him, and he said they're currently his leader. He has always liked Tennessee, but that's obviously a new development.


At the same time, he said at least a handful of teams are still in the running for him, and he plans to take at least a few more visits. He's taking OVs to Florida State this week and then USC next weekend, and he said he also plans to go back to Auburn in late July

Callahan isn’t very well connected and Sparks is just a regurgitator for e-cred. AP isn’t always right, but the is the best connected media member by a mile.
