'24 AL EDGE Jordan Ross (Tennessee)

If he is concerned about our depth at LEO, it must mean he wants an easy route to playing time. If that is the case, let him go wherever he want to go. I like players who are willing to fight for playing time.
Why does it bother people if a kid is taking depth into consideration when choosing a school? I get that we want the best players in the country, but these kids have things that they want as well. If early playing time is a major priority, then kids are going to look at depth charts. It doesn't mean that they're not willing to compete. There's four young 4 stars at his position on campus already and the coaches plan on taking two more this class.
If this five star guy is scared of our depth that tells me a few things.

1. He may be a pansy, scared of competition.

2. He saw our guys and thought "Tennessee has some freaks. I'll never see the field."

3. A bit of a side note but he's in Birmingham and it doesn't seem like Alabama nor Auburn are pushing hard

We only want players with that dawg in them. He don't fit. You got to have players with the sack size of Merklinger who say I don't care if the number one quarterback is going there. I want to go there to and challenge him to try to beat him. This guy ain't it.
I get wanting the best players to come to UT. What I don't get is ragging on a top recruit for looking at depth charts. It doesn't mean that they're afraid of competition. If early playing time is a top priority, he would have four young 4 stars from the two previous classes already on campus, and the staff plans on taking 2 in this class at that position. The goal is to be able to rotate fresh players without any drop off. Even so, only 3 will get major snaps at the LEO position barring injuries. Some kids won't be keen on that idea. They'll want to be featured within the first two years on campus. I like that our coaches are transparent about their intentions.

The depth chart is one of the first things I would consider.

I’m curious if the pitch has changed now that Fountain is out.

Would’ve been Lindstrom, Fountain, and Ross. Might also explain how/why we are suddenly willing to take a third ILB (Singleton) in addition to Spillman and Burns when for months it was a “we are only taking two” scenario.

Lindstrom isn’t a Leo more of SDE, but can do anything on the line

Who we taking here? AP or Wiltfong?

AP has been saying this one has been fading away from us for months.
Even though he came for a uov and now coming for his OV still? Not sure that checks out. But he’s more likely to know than wiltfong at this point. We shall see this weekend.

If you watch the Wiltfong video posted just a few posts ago, he says that Ross just told him that Tennessee is currently the school to beat for him. You can't get more definitive and recent than that.

I stand corrected

What does this even mean?
I took it as when AP got a hold of JR he didn’t really give him a clear answer and he reiterated that he’s going to commit later in the process

Edit to add Callaghan’s thoughts regarding leading for Jordan Ross
Florida and Georgia definitely made moves recently, but that’s what Ross indicated to Steve recently. That was a little surprising to me, too, honestly. But Ross liked Tennessee for months going into his official visits this month, so I definitely hadn’t written him off as a possibility regardless of what had happened during his recent visits.
One important note on Ross: He has indicated on multiple occasions that he’s planning to wait until December — or perhaps even February — to make his decision, so unless he reverses course on that, he’s probably taking his recruitment the distance.

More proof that if you live and die by what ANYONE tells us, it. is. on. YOU! if the world ends whenever it doesn't go our way, even though it looked as if it would.

Grade of slaw, everyone. Yes, AP and Matt, and some others give us a great picture of the NOW, and im grateful to them; but, in the end...no matter how committed, how much someone leads, no matter who's trending...ultimately, has been said a million times, FLUID...can change with the next SENTENCE. Kids flip right before pen hits paper, I mean, right at that very moment...happens EVERY YEAR.

Also, and never forget this...some of these kids like to mess with people, will say ANYTHING. Tell one person 'this', the next person 'that.
