Dude, your feelings aren't off base. Don't let anyone gaslight you. I'm sure we'll be ok in the end, but your perceptions aren't wrong and deep down inside many of us wonder the same thing. There is a pattern there. You're not crazy for saying it. That being said there's no good going to come out of us being pre-maturely critical of our recruiting at this point in time because it's still really solid already and there's plenty of time to go, but it doesn't mean what you're touching on isn't real. It is. We just don't know why for sure or if it's really going to matter come December.
It’s a great looking class so far. I’m hoping it finishes off really strong. I’m mostly concerned about the DL. Proud of our coaching staff and curious to see how it ends up. Thanks for the encouragement!

IMHO, Heupel does not need "equal" talent to beat Smart.

How can you say that? Especially given what he has in defense? As long as Smart is at UGA, he is gonna have at worst the #3 ranked class every year. And he always gets studs on defense and not only that he and his staff can develop defensive players as well as we do offensive players.

Heup will clip UGA at Neyland either this year or in near future. And we won’t have equal talent bc we won’t have pulled 10 straight top 3 classes or whatever.

I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make. Of course he isn’t going to say “Oh gee whiz I really want to go to Auburn but I already had that graphic made.” My point is he already knows where he is going. He’s committing in 5 days. And if some other school was a legitimate option this late in the game they would be on the graphic he just put out.

Also, someone would know something. Five days before the Easley commitment people knew it was likely Georgia. I’ll admit this one feels kind of weird. But not enough to ignore all of the evidence. If he follows through and commits on Monday it will be one of those four schools.
Fair enough. I do believe now more than ever things can change last minute. Apologies that comment came off more salty than intended

I love Huepel and you’re entitled to your opinion. But the record shows Georgia ate our lunch and we had one of if not the best offense last year.
And their defense was leagues better than ours. We need to close the gap, but perhaps we don't need to close it to equality to win. We lost by 14 at Georgia. We're not THAT far off if we can get better on D.

I think when NSD cokes and goes the DL will be a good haul. We have to understand that recruiting will shake up even more during the season. I mean what happens if we actually do upset Bama again and somehow find a way to beat UGA? I think we will flip a DL somewhere aloof the line. Also, I think Garner will want to hit the portal for a DL or two maybe. Either way this class is shaping up to be the best class since the early Fulmer days.

Would move Vols up to 6th in 247 composite.

I just don’t get the questions about recruiting.
When you start to compete with the big dawgs for the recruits you want, you’re not going to land everyone. Especially as the “new” school being back up there. Going to have to continue to win to land these guys against Georgia/Bama/etc

Also Kirby hasn’t been tested as much yet with coordinator replacement on offense. Chaney was decent there but something was missing, insert Coley and that was a complete disaster in 2019. Monken comes in 2020 and they’ve won 2 championships in those 3 years with really explosive offense and creative play design all while sticking with Kirby’s core philosophy of being physical. We’ll see what Mike BoBo does. He is Chaney 2.0 IMO. “Good” not great like Monken. Hopefully means UGA goes back down to earth 11-12 win program with 2-3 L’s a season

Where did Monken go? I forgot.

They make a wish list. Then hear positive things and think it’s a done deal. Then get disappointed. Then take it out on us!

Seriously, I used to make a list and get so disappointed even if we had a really good class. I try to just focus on who we get now. Especially with them coming and going through the portal much less how long it is until December.
