-VQAfter that Stanton Ramil we believe will be the next one to come off the board. We expect that will happen sometime before the calendar turns to August. He has gone pretty quiet on everybody but there are a lot of good vibes for Tennessee based off people we have talked to as we reach the middle of the month.
The amount 17-18 year old kids that grew up wanting to play for Tennessee has gotten smaller and smaller over the years. The only way those numbers will start trending the the right direction is by getting 4 and 5 star guys on the field and making Tennessee an attractive program againAfter reading 4 pages of comments I"m amazed most of you only talk about stars..... I know stars are important sometime but give me a kid who really wants to wear the orange & white and give his all every game. JMO

What makes you ASSume Saban makes more committable offers to 3 stars?
Probability of success in offering physically gifted guys already given the opportunity to excel at the HS level before their SR season is greater than those that aren't. Check. But high stars are not a guarantee of success and lower stars, or even no stars is not a guaranteed limiter of success either.
Wish UT had signed the 9 three stars from the 2022 NFL draft first round, not to mention the one two star and two unranked players. That is 12 of 32. Services misses are out there according to which ever service(s) CBS used in their analysis. Wish I had that data for the entire draft, looked and can't find it. Would also like to see a study of how many kids the big timers have commit entered their Sr year as three stars and get a bump after the big boys court them.
Like I said in another thread, I would like to see some statistics on 3 stars draft rate at the BCS top 30 teams only. Those would have some real statistical significance and would PROBABLY still lean heavily toward the higher stars, but not nearly as heavy. We are not competing with BCS bottom feeders and FCS schools for kids we are all in on. I have an unfounded fear that a lot of guys get the the 3 star status for going to camps and other communications with the services.
Yes. Saban's subscription to 247 is the ONLY thing that makes him successful... couldn't be that the coaches that know how to identify and sign talent regardless of "stars" are the most successful, could it?There are many more 3* players than 4 and 5* guys. Yes star rating is absolutely tied to success in college. It’s a statistical fact. Teams loaded with 3* don’t win jack squat. The teams with the most 4-5* players are the ones who win at the highest level. That’s not even debatable.

Oregon is about the only team to get close back when they played Auburn.I still do not understand why some people don't get this. While it is true that some teams that are loaded with 3 stars overachieve, it is also true that they will never, ever, win a national title. It is also true that the teams that win nattys are loaded with 4 and 5 stars. If half your team isn't made up with 4 and 5 star players then you have zero shot at winning a natty.....the end.
This isn't the only year he can do it. The 25-cap has been lifted for the next two years. I think it really all comes down to whether he can find guys that he feels can help this team. I don't think we take players just to take players. If he can find 30 guys that make this team better, then I think he takes 30 guys. If he can only find 25, then I think he takes 25. I don't think he has a number set in stone. It's whether or not they help this team. I think we'll work the HS and JuCo ranks, and if we can't find the players we want there, we'll work the portal. And whatever we don't find there, you save the spots to start over again next year. But you don't fill spots just to fill spots. If they don't improve the team, there's no reason to take them.If this is the year that we can take that many……and they can’t be carried over…..and you’ve got a class led by a charismatic generational QB that kids want to play with….. why wouldn’t you?

I don’t think he has a set number. He seems to be selective about fit. If he finds 30 he will probably take them but why give a scholarship to someone just to hit 85 right now?
