'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

Taulia beats out Tyson in the Bama pecking order, Tyson transfers to either A&M or Kentucky to continue Gramps legacy at his old schools. Maybe he goes to Union University in Jackson (where Bear got his start) and revives the football program there!:)

Just had an interesting thought. Do you think Saban has surpassed Bear as Bama's greatest coach? Do bama fans think he has? IMO Saban is a better coach than Bear. Granted I wasn't around for Bear, but the things Saban has done there in less than a decade are absurd. I really wish he would've gotten Brees at the Dolphins, had some success and stayed there instead of going to bama. Or Rich Rod had accepted the job in 2007 instead of staying at WVU which led to them offering Saban. Dang. :loco:

completely different eras, and both had their own set of challenges, and advantages.

i lean toward Saban. cause, really, what he's been able to do, he shouldn't be able to in today's college football world.

Yeah that's my point. There are so many recruiting limits and rules among other things that Bear didn't have to deal with. He could sign the whole top 100 list every year if he wanted to. Meanwhile Saban is a Deshaun Watson comeback away from 6 legit titles in 9 years. or is it 10 years now? Either way it's stupid.

yeah, the parody that seems to exist everywhere else outside the top 2-4 programs in the country shouldn't really allow for a program like Bama today.

and even of those top 2-4 programs (clemson, OSU, Bama....and pick someone for the last spot), Bama is out performing those guys at a nice clip as well.

and also handling the 'shot takers' (the washingtons, FSUs, Oregons, Mich Sts etc....of the world) in the process.

plus he's not relying on voters. you get a game to play, winner take all.

Bear got to rely on voters, and in some cases, c'ships awarded before the bowls were even played.

yep, i talked myself in to it...definitely saban.

Yeah he sucks. I guess to tie it back to what made me think of this, I don't think Saban has to do anything for Bear's grandson. Saban, I would think, has free reign at this point to do whatever the hell he wants in that stupid program. I'm kinda interested to know how bama fans rank the 2. From an outsider/rival perspective it seems obvious but it may not be the same for them. I still think the General was better than both, though I may be biased.

My opinion. Same as yours, he has done it in an era when there is more balance across the country and relatively in a smaller window.

To Bama fans, I think you will still see some split by generation. The under 40 crowd will lean Saban while the older folks probably lean Bryant. If Saban continues on his same track for a few more years it will probably swing toward him as a whole.

Yeah that seems accurate.

Saban > Bear and it’s not close. 6 titles in 15 years, harder era, and all of the titles are legit.

Bear has only 2 undisputed titles, ‘61 and ‘79. ‘64...fake! Arkansas is the real champ. ‘65...debatable. ‘73...fake! Notre Dame is the real champ. ‘78...debatable, lost to the other claimant, USC.

Doesn’t even attempt those stops because no way in hell, Saban signs off on those releases. Ends up at FSU and beats out Sam Howell for 2nd string.

Its called competing. The top guys thrive on it.

It's also called do the math. Only one guy plays that position at a time. If you have a school with a much bigger need for a QB that can offer you the same resources and an easier path to playing time, I call that making a smarter business decision.

This line of thinking is what makes you go 0-8 in SEC play

Agreed. Tom Osbourne is better than Bear. Saban is the Geno Auriemma of college football.

Do you ever watch pro ball? Listen to their introductions. There are guys starting on every team from colleges I’ve never even heard of. If you’re a great player you will make it to the league.
It’s not like UT doesn’t play on National TV every week and plays in the SEC. if you’re good you will get plenty of exposure. We sent more guys to the league than most of the SEC in Dobbs class.

What you said here is correct but think about it. Would Taulia be playing for championships here? Not very likely. Would he have a legit shot aat Heisman here? Extremely doubtful. Some guys want to playing for programs that win at a high level. Unfortunately we arent there yet. And its hard to argue that Saban doesnt put dudes in the NFL like crazy.

It’s also not hard to argue that as good as Saban is he doesn’t put QBs in the league.
