Not gutsy to remove the starting QB who was something like 27-2, whod all but won you the title game the year before, the guy youd won with all year long, in favor of a true freshman whod thrown about 50 passes in his only year in college?
On one hand I agree, because Hurts clearly wasnt getting it done and showed no signs that he would going forward. But on the other hand....I think most coaches in that situation try and regroup at halftime with Hurts. At least thats what everyone else seemed to think it in calling it a bold move.
I just see it different. The onside kick against Clemson was gutsy and a great call. Taking Hurts out IMO was the obvious move. Hurts may have been 27-2, but thats mostly bc of the defense he played behind. Auburn and Georgia exposed his weakness.
Seems interesting that none of the services have posted any info on him visiting since the initial info on Thursday. Or did I miss it?
He did make it in. He told me he arrived Friday night and just stayed yesterday to work out at Tennessees camp and spend time with the coaches.
Theres certainly nothing imminent, as far as I can tell, in terms of him perhaps flipping to another school. I think this is one of those situations where Tennessee is trying to play the long game and just stay in the race for now. But he still has interest in Tennessee, and hes probably going to return in the coming months on an official visit.
