'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

Nobody is crying and nobody is calling Helton a buffoon that I’ve seen. But something is clearly wrong with our QB recruiting

Just like something was CLEARLY wrong with our overall recruiting 2 months ago. Right?

Remember how you guys were fretting over it? Saying maybe Pruitt isn’t a very good recruiter after all. How is that looking now?

June of ‘18 isn’t the time to start worrying about QB recruiting with this staff. Let’s see how it plays out.

You don't know that. You don't know their strategies. You're assuming. Just because you want a QB on the commitment list and will take just about anyone at this point to check the box and lower your anxiety about the process doesn't mean Helton feels the same way.

Uh, no I don’t. I wasn’t one of those. As I’ve said over and over again in this thread, QB recruiting is different. The top guys are already committed elsewhere. So either we’re flipping someone or hoping one of the low ranked guys works out for us. Yes, it’s June 18th and every top 15 pro style QB is already committed. 11 of the top 15 DT QBs are already committed. Qb recruiting is different

No, in the same post where I said it was strange, I said we are struggling at QB recruiting. It’s the same thing. We are struggling. Something is wrong. It is strange.

You’re perception is that we are struggling. But you don’t know what’s being said inside the building about 2019 QBs. Like Ron said, I find it very hard to believe the staff doesn’t have a plan.

I'm getting mixed signals. Are we panicking about QB recruiting or nah?

We're not panicking about QB recruiting...

We're panicking about the prospects of whether or not we need to panic about the QB recruiting because the prospects in the QB recruiting are panic-worthy :thud:

Nobody called you a negavol. You do however have a history of posts that come across as panicked.

No. People have a habit of accusing me of panicking because if I post anything seen as critical or negative, anything at all, even if I’m right as I was during the Currie/Butch debacle, people on this board lose their minds coming to the defense. Even when it was defending Currie and Butch. Currie was this great sneaky genius who was going to land Gruden and I was panicking, remember? I member.

tagovailoa, who’s the younger brother of alabama quarterback tua tagovailoa, said vols offensive coordinator tyson helton worked with him on some things that he originally picked up from former nfl coach june jones in hawaii. “i mean, they’re great coaches,” the younger tagovailoa said of the vols’ staff. “they’re awesome people, and i learned a lot with my drops and a lot of those things. I mean, with coach helton, i learned a lot of those things with coach jones, so it was kind of good getting back into those types of things.”

he said he also “had a lot of time to talk” with tennessee’s coaches, but “it was more about, like, catching up and stuff” rather than going in-depth on his recruitment.“i got to work with jg, so that was awesome,” tagovailoa added, referring to tennessee quarterback jarrett guarantano. “that was cool.”

“i guess you could say i always had interest in tennessee,” he said. “they’re just good people. My family likes coach helton and them. I guess you could say i have a lot of interest in tennessee.” last week, tagovailoa told garcia that he plans to take an official visit to tennessee. After his weekend trip to knoxville, he said he still plans to see the vols again, and an official visit to tennessee in the coming months remains a possibility.

“yeah, for sure,” he said, adding that he doesn’t “know” when he might visit the vols again. “i think that’s just something me and my family will have to talk about.” he also expressed interest last week in visiting lsu, but he said he’s not sure exactly when he might visit the tigers. “it’s up to my dad,” tagovailoa said. “whatever my dad wants to do.”

Price was on midday180. Kind of hinted at the Tago news getting out led to Bama pushing hard to get him to campus to squash visit. Explains the shorter than expected visit that was rumored by Brice. Likely a compromise to Saban that they still are going to TN but not for entire wknd. Who knows maybe he wasn't planning on entire wknd anyway.

He def acted like it wasn't over just that it will be tough. Still expecting an official visit.

My view on QBs is this.... if your a QB you want to see on film what your offense is. We can tell people it will look like such and such but until they see it in TN uniform they won't buy in at that positions completely. It took spring game to get some offensive commits rolling once they saw potential in system. QBs need a bit more than spring game. If Helton was lone OC it wouldn't be as much of an issue but he wasn't so people want proof on film

About 95% of VN never expected Currie to land Gruden.

I think that’s a realistic opinion. If I was a Hs QB I would definitely want to see the offensive scheme in action before committing.

Personally, I think Price's post was intentional to throw us all off. Atlanta Vol and others blew his secret visit so Price told JP and Taulia's family, "I got this, don't worry, I'll make them think he's all Bama with one simple post on VQ." And now VQ and Price get to break the story when he flips to the Vols.

Not fooling me...

Taulia camping at UT wasn't a secret.

lol you were definitely being a panicky spaz for the entirety of last fall. Just because Currie s*** the bed doesn't mean you were "right" to b***h and whine 25 times a day about why we hadn't fired Butch yet and how not firing Butch was putting us behind in the coaching search.

Hell, if the data dump of emails and texts within the AD prove anything, it's that Currie did have a plan the whole time. He put out a feeler to Mullen and when it came back lukewarm he moved right on to Schiano. Granted, it was a s****y plan. But spinning that whole thing as you being right is revisionist history.

I was right. About Butch and Currie.
