'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

The guy that has always seemed like who the coaches like the most outside of Taulia in this class is Legendre IMO. Yes, he's committed to Kansas but I mean. Kansas. He's a consensus 4 star with recent offers from TX A&M, FSU and UGA, and seems to have everything the coaches are looking for. I would be perfectly happy with a guy like that.

I think VQ said he is trending elsewhere

Sleegro, I thought something came out about him decommiting or being open to other schools? I can't find anything big or flashy on his Twitter about Kansas.

I haven't seen anything like that but it wouldn't surprise me.

IDT we're in pole position for any '19 or '20 QB right now. There's plenty of time, though, or we could take another grad transfer next year-- maybe even a guy who has two years of eligibility left. We have to go all-in on '20.

no, i don't actually. i said 'could be' and that 'obviously a lot can happen' in the time line i'm acting out.

but you can only go with what you know. we don't know if we're goin to sign one this cycle. we don't know who/how many we'll sign in any cycle going forward. we don't know if anyone is transferring before this season....

we do know that we have 4 on the roster, and there is a possibility that 3 of the 4 could be here the next 3 seasons. Shrout longer if he does indeed RS this season. of course transfers or NFL early defections etc...could change that. but we don't know that to be true either right now.

and that's the other caveat to all this, the coaches obviously know a lot more than we do. maybe they feel pretty good about Tag coming here. maybe they already know Mcbride is transferring. maybe they already know they're NOT going to RS shrout?

point being, they have a plan, and a plan b. i'm not all that concerned about it right now. just putting it out there that not signing one this cycle MAY not be the end of the world, if that's what they decide to do (and i don't think they will tbh, we'll sign one this cycle most likely).

I think that's absolutely true and I'm not sure why people would think otherwise. Nobody on this staff appears to be doing anything without a plan and contingency. IMO

Lol, you know I'm in agreeance with you on Plan A and Plan B. This staff does not worry me. I honestly think they are already a shoe in for acquiring Taulia. (Just my premonition)

LeGendre hasn't shut down his recruitment. He said he wanted to come to UT for a weekend and spend more time with Pruitt and Helton. They're trying to schedule an unofficial this summer and if that goes well, schedule an OV in the fall. Pruitt is on point for this recruitment, not Helton, so they're making LeGendre a priority.

Exactly. Last quotes I remember from LeGendre was that it was Pruitt calling him all the time and leading the recruitment. Which I why I think he's at or near the top of the board. Thanks for confirming what I was speculating. :hi:

 flipping taulia would be a major feat. i think it's a big up hill climb, but worth the trip if you have a shot at getting over the top.

thanks, and that's the last thing on all this...there's still 6 months til the ESD and 8 til NSD.

As for Taulia Tagoviolia, the Vols worked hard to get the Alabama quarterback back on campus this weekend. Tennessee hasn’t slowed its pursuit of the 4-star quarterback (as noted on the GQ) — even after Tagoviolia committed to the Tide.

Tagoviolia was hosted by Jarrett Guarantano and spent a long time with Helton discussing Tennessee’s future offense and his potential fit in the system. Tagoviolia’s family has immense respect for Pruitt and has at least left the door ajar for a possible flip.

It won’t come easy, though, as the family is also very engrained in Alabama. As Austin noted on the General’s Quarters, the Tide have little interest in seeing Tua’s little brother flip to a rival either, working hard to try and squash his visit to Rocky Top. While that didn’t happen, Tagoviolia was back in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night at Nick Saban’s house hanging with fellow Tide commits and targets.

With limited options on the quarterback market, the Vols appear willing to play this out. They helped themselves this weekend, and while a flip remains tough, they’re likely to get Tagoviolia back on campus again this fall for an official visit and then we’ll see what happens. Stay tuned.

Nobody is crying and nobody is calling Helton a buffoon that I’ve seen. But something is clearly wrong with our QB recruiting

Why do you think something is wrong ? We had no idea Taulia was even thinking about coming back for a visit then find out they have been in on him for a long time . We only get to see what they want us to see .

Yeah, Pruitt definitely thinks he's a good fit and we're pushing hard. Kansas has his former HS coach on staff, so that's how they got him to commit. If we can get him back on campus and strengthen his relationships at UT, he might be flippable. There's plenty of time and a fall Saturday in Neyland is tough to beat.

Let's get him in here, and let him do the Vol Walk, and experience game day, and we'll have him in the bag.

the (Tagovailoa) family is also very engrained in Alabama

So many ways you can read into that. Aka the Bama boosters did everything they can to find housing, employment, and a high school situation in order to secure Tua's signature and enrollment and it would look horrible if the little brother went to a rival. I don't see how "engrained" a family from Hawaii can be into Alabama culture and society after being there for a relatively short period of time.

This is a live one. We simply need to do a better job of "engraining" the Tagovailoa family into Tennessee. Flipping Taulia is not out of the question at all.

Personally, I think Price's post was intentional to throw us all off. Atlanta Vol and others blew his secret visit so Price told JP and Taulia's family, "I got this, don't worry, I'll make them think he's all Bama with one simple post on VQ." And now VQ and Price get to break the story when he flips to the Vols.

Not fooling me...

How much do posters like AV infuriate the recruiting journalists when they get scooped?

They weren’t scooped. VQ has known for awhile Taulia was planning a visit to UT in June. They didn’t report it because it was suppose to be kept quiet. AV blew that up. VQ mods don’t report things if the recruit or coaches tell them not to. If they did they would lose their sources.

The more I think about it, the idea of VQ dropping disinfo about Taulia peer recruiting for Bama makes a lot of sense. If a flip happens it isn't happing any time soon. Drop the disinfo so the buzz around the visit drops down for now, while the staff continues with their recruiting efforts. Takes the heat off the kid and the door is still open. if you think about how much "peer recruiting" can you even do in a matter of just a few hours while camping/throwing for the coaches? This wasn't an HJ situation.
