I watched some of the elite 12 live. This kid struggled in the portion I saw. Not damning the kid, just stating what I saw.

It seems to me Pruitt and Helton invited Tua to come camp at UT and Taulia's dad thought Taulia should take them up on that offer.

I doubt it was much of a secret. Taulia had said in the past shortly after he publically committed to Bama that he might still make a few visits elsewhere. He still hasn't ruled out potential OVs to UT and LSU.

A couple of UGA's top commits, Nolan Smith and Trezman Marshall have visited Bama some since committing, but both UGA and Bama think there's hardly any chance they're considering flipping, especially Smith.

One of Bama's commits (since Dec.), Brandon Turnage, lives in Oxford, MS. He goes to camps at Ole Miss. It's convenient and good for his development as a player. All other indications are that he's not interested in flipping. He visits Bama often and peer recruits for Bama. His mom came with him on two of his visits this summer.

A lot recruits totally shut down their own recruitments after they commit. But some don't. Like I've said, I don't think Taulia is considering flipping. I could be wrong though.

I really don't think he is considering flipping either. He's got way too much pressure to not end up at Alabama. Now if Hurts ends up starting most of the year, that could change. But don't see Tua not starting. It's no coincidence the Tagovailoa ended up at Thompson, who hasn't been a HS football power ever. With former Ala Alumni all over that coaching staff, including the HC, they will be funneling any Elite prospects they have to Ala. They have 2 this year. Mark Freeman did it at Spanish Fort when he was HC there. Even if my some miracle he decided not to go to Ala, he isn't telling a soul outside of his parents until he signs. But I would be beyond shocked if he didn't sign with Ala. The Tagovaila's have already cashed that check. I will say Saban has to have some doubt with him offering the QB from Calera, and telling him he has a spot if either committed QB decommits. And we know Paul isn't going anywhere but Ala. But again I highly doubt he signs anywhere but Ala. But still it's far from a guarantee that he ends up in Tuscaloosa. Too much smoke from the QB guys on this. So I hope they know something we don't.

Agreed. He wouldn't have taken an unofficial to do that, nor would you have to. Plus that would have come out by now.

I’d be curious to see the correlation between performance at that camp and subsequent performance in college. My take is that it is really hard to know who is going to be good in college at QB.

2015 MVP Shea Patterson (probably got it right)
2014 MVP Blake Barnett (he was definitely the worst as far as performance in college, the rest are pretty much starters)
2013 MVP Sean White (Will Grier and Deshaun Watson were part of this class)
2012 MVP Assaniti Woulard (several NFL guys, including Dobbs, in this list and never heard of Woulard)
2011 Rapist Winston was one of the Co-MVPs
2010 MVP Jeff Driskel, seems like he did OK once he left Florida, only other player of note was Bridgewater

Every report about this kid and family and their relationship with Pruitt make this theory seem a lot less likely. I don't know if will get him, but I doubt there is any merit to think he would just visit us to recruit to bama.

No, because that actually happened. There has been nothing said from anyone other than scared BVS VN posters that it might have happened with Taulia. I know it's hard to believe for some of you that 4 and 5 star prospects are ACTUALLY very interested in becoming Vols and it's not just a conspiracy to recruit players to other schools. But it's MUCH more likely to be the case.

Given your stated role in ministry I shouldn't have to say this, but there are actually people in the world who have integrity. Not saying that TT's dad and family are among those, but there is a ton of info out there that suggests that very strongly.

I've seen no evidence that Taulia and To'oto'o had ever met before that trip to Knoxville. I've got another theory. Maybe Pruitt scheduled them at the same time so they would become friends and To'oto'o could recruit Taulia to Tennessee on their bama trip.

I think we have a better shot with Taulia than people think. I get the brother/Bama connection, but isn't that what should make him want to maybe come here or somewhere other than Bama?
If he is good, why would he fight for playing time with his older brother, Hurts, and freshman for the next 3yrs, when he could have a better chance seeing the field earlier somewhere else?

You always always always have conditional backup plans for every recruit. No matter how solid. It’s just smart recruiting.
