'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

I think he's just trying to spread positivity in every thread right now. Haha. Both look like good prospects.

Just stating facts man...

My wife just walked up on my computer... pointed at your avatar... and said "He looks like a *****"... FACT

I think you're handsome :)

Anyways... spreading positivity and spreading facts are two different things... I didn't say at the end of their careers Maurer would win more Super Bowls... that's speculative as hell... I just stated a fact... Maurer finished better in the Elite 11 Finals... FACT

My wife said "My brother is married to a man and if you're also married to a man then that's fine... but he needs to change his avatar and do something better cause he's good looking... so he's either trying too hard to look like Rico Suave or I'd love to go shopping with him... Tell him to PM you if he's gay"

Maurer outscored Taulia in every category during the Elite 11 finals except the long toss... he was 2nd to only him by a few yards

But since his brother plays for Alabama and had a good half in a clutch game he's clearly by a lot better

Now I'm not saying you are wrong about the evaluations in the Elite 11. However, here are Taulia's stats and they are way better than Maurer's.

Now that being said you never know what a kid will become so they could both become superstars.

I like Maurer though just so you know.

Does anyone think Taulia is that much better than Maurer? I dont.

I don't think he's significantly better, no, but I do think he's better. And I think it would benefit UT's roster greatly if they got two QBs in this class, and if UT gets Taulia, that means Bama doesn't. Taking Taulia is a win-win-win no matter how you look at it IMO.

Guys - they are two different types of QB's. If Taulia wants to be a Vol he can compete for the job just like Mauer. Pleasant problem.

But buying into what his brother did in one half and thinking that is what Taulia is/will do may be a bit of a stretch until you see it actually happen.

Because the opening means next to nothing to me. Taulia’s tape and stats on a real football field are much much better than Maurer up to this point.

Not saying this is the case, but a QBs stats can be deceptive simply based on the talent around him.

Right? I don't know what just happened.

Not sure, but I think his "wife" might be a guy. :)

And, to get back on topic, since we may take two QB's, get them both. They can battle each other to prove who's better.

Haha I don't want to make assumptions but possibly. And I'm all for taking both QBs. I don't know why we have to downgrade one to hype the other. Especially when our coaches want both. They both look like really good prospects and I hope we get both. Maurer may have more upside do to size speed and maybe more undeveloped potential. But taulia seems less likely to be a bust so having both would be perfect. And if not both I'd be happy with either.

Taulia- 36 TDs 8 INTS in his junior year
Maurer- 30 TDs and 23 INTs combined his past two seasons.

Maurer looks to be headed in the right direction but it’s not close right now. When it comes to playing on a real football field with pads and against other defenses it’s clear which one is better. At least up to this point.

Time will tell. Lots of guys did well in high school that couldn't take the next step in college. Daniel Brooks ring a bell? And lots of guys excel in these camps that can't get the job done in a game. That's not to say either apply to Taulia or Maurer...but neither are an end-all-be-all to success. I think both will be really good college QB's. If both end up at UT, I think both will have a hard time seeing PT until their Sr./RS Jr. years. The old bird in the hand (JT) is worth two in the bush (TT/BM) adage will hopefully be in play...meaning Shrout has lived up to his "pro scout" hype.

I don't disagree but taulia plays in a much better system to put up stats like that and has much better talent around him. Maurer plays in a butch Jones style offense from what I've seen. So stats should be looked at but definitely not the only factor.

Agree.

For sure and I’m not taking just them into account. I think taulia has a better arm and is more accurate than Maurer as well. Stats just help back that assessment up.

That said Maurer’s arm strength seems to have improved a lot from his junior year to this summer. I’m excited to see how his season goes.

I don’t put much stock in HS numbers myself.

There are just too many factors that I don’t know about that could play into good or bad numbers imo
