Good point. To me, prolly a lot has to do with the mystery and intrigue with how well his brother will do and expect him to do just as good if not better. I mean, Eli was good, but he wasn't even close to the same level as Peyton. I would love to have him, but looks like a lot of people have already annointed him to something special. Me.... just expecting another great recruit with potential..... and a 63 yrd long ball.

I think it’s that he’s been this staffs top target at QB this cycle for some time now.

After seeing maurer im fine with letting taulia go somewhere else. I did want him because i think he has good upside and a lot of room to mature but with maurer i believe the same for him and i honestly dont feel the need for another qb in this class.

A lot of the appeal of getting this guy has to also have a lot to do with Pruitt stealing one from Bama/Saban, and having the image around UT that the excitement here is more exciting than a brother playing with his sibling for an annual NC contending team.

I suspect for a lot of people it is one of those rare chances to feel like we are winning something against Bama. Personally, I am fine with Mauer as our only QB in this class.
