"I learned that Tennessee has a lot of history," Tagovailoa said. "Peyton Manning is everything and he has a lot of history here. I liked the visit and I like it out here and the visit was great." Tennessee has had success with former Islanders Jesse Mahelona, Albert Toeaina and JT Mapu. Tagovailoa believes he can be make that transition into being the next Hawaii product to produce at a high level. "It's always good to hear that Hawaii people come out and play SEC ball," Tagovailoa said. "I think anywhere that Hawaii people go it's good to hear them playing in college at a high level."

"I have a lot of respect for coach Pruitt," Tagovailoa said. "We have been talking to him on the phone. My family has a lot of respect for him. Why wouldn't you want to come check out Tennessee with Peyton Manning? Playing under coach Pruitt would be a great thing to do. He's basically another (Nick) Saban."

The family is also very aware of offensive coordinator Tyson Helton who has a calm but electric personality when talking to recruits. "We knew him from when he was recruiting Tua," Tagovailoa said. "He's a cool guy and I think the biggest message they were preaching were being men of their words."

So where does Tennessee stand with Tagovailoa after today? He isn't putting anyone on top or doesn't have a list, but it's clear to see they made an impression. "Tennessee's, I'd love to come to Tennessee," Tagovailoa said. "I don't really have numbers, but after the visit today, I'd love to come to Tennessee."

Tagovailoa plans on taking several visits this spring and summer. He loves the schools in the south, but doesn't want to limit himself. Everywhere he goes he knows he's fighting the notion that he will follow his brother to Alabama, but he is quick to point out his path has to be his path. "I say it a bunch, but I want to make my own name," Tagovailoa said. "A name for myself and that's the biggest thing for me. Being in the shadow of him, I think it's time to make my own way."

I tried to tell people he doesn't want to follow his brother...Tennessee has a shot but beware of Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arizona

You would have to think getting the chance to play against his brother at Tennessee has to be appealing. Especially after hearing how much him and his family like the coaches at Tennessee now.

Absolutely as someone who was a middle child there was nobody I wanted to beat more than my older brother.

I would really push this angle of creating your own legacy if I was recruiting him.

Tennessee shouldn’t be discounted as a contender for four-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, a Hawaii native who’s now at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala. Many have assumed that he’s likely to join his brother at Alabama, and with his family having strong relationships with some of the Crimson Tide’s coaches, they undoubtedly will be tough to beat, particularly with Tagovailoa in Alabama’s backyard. But his family also holds new Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt in high regard, and Tagovailoa came away impressed with his first look at Tennessee. He said he would like to make the trip again, and if the Vols can continue to build on the relationship they have started to build with him, they might be a legitimate threat to the Crimson Tide.

I think McBride doesn't fit because he's not accurate enough. Bigger is better but not the only thing.

I don’t know how we could determine accuracy out of that mess last year.

For rare guys, it works

Flutie
Brees
Wilson
Maybe Lamar Jackson, not sure on his height
Wuerffel

Not the norm, but dudes do it

Actually, it's more the norm in college than most realize...

Brees - 6'0 (most believe he's actually 5'11)
Flutie - 5'9
Manziel - 6'0
Wuerffel - 6'1
Detmer - 6'0
Wilson - 5'11
Applewhite - 6'0

Size really isn't a great indicator of success in college. Arm, attitude, and intelligence are a lot more important.
