That's true, but he was maybe the least accurate in that mess. And he didn't play any real great defenses from what I remember.
He was the only one to hit Palmer in the hands for a deep post
He was a true freshman thrown in cold. His first pass was dropped but would have been a 45 yard TD. No telling the confidence shot resulting from that. As is, he held it together just taking snaps behind that sieve line in his first college action. I give him an incomplete and hope he redshirts so we can fairly judge him...or better yet the coaches.
Actually, it's more the norm in college than most realize...
Brees - 6'0 (most believe he's actually 5'11)
Flutie - 5'9
Manziel - 6'0
Wuerffel - 6'1
Detmer - 6'0
Wilson - 5'11
Applewhite - 6'0
Size really isn't a great indicator of success in college. Arm, attitude, and intelligence are a lot more important.
You guys cannot sit here and tell me that his size is not a huge problem.
It's not.
He can take a deeper drop after taking the snap and/or move a couple steps laterally away from the rush for the throwing lanes. The ability to get his footwork right, read coverages and make quick decisions is more important than height.
I watched his highlight video, and there wasn't a single pass batted down. In fact he completed 100% of his passes, so no, not a problem.
