'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

I don’t know how we could determine accuracy out of that mess last year.

That's true, but he was maybe the least accurate in that mess. And he didn't play any real great defenses from what I remember.

He was a true freshman thrown in cold. His first pass was dropped but would have been a 45 yard TD. No telling the confidence shot resulting from that. As is, he held it together just taking snaps behind that sieve line in his first college action. I give him an incomplete and hope he redshirts so we can fairly judge him...or better yet the coaches.

He was the only one to hit Palmer in the hands for a deep post

Haha, maybe. I'll have to check yer stats. :) But he was 1 for 8 against Southern Miss and 16 for 32 against Mizzou. Granted it's hard to tell much from last year's team and I'm a big proponent of not judging any of them till this year. But that's 42.5% completion percentage on only 3.8 yards per attempt against two of the worst defenses we faced. While JG's was almost 20% higher on 7.2 yards per attempt against tougher defenses in the same crappy situation. I'm not writing McBride off but that doesn't seem very accurate to me. And hitting Palmer on one deep post is not really evidence. hahaha

Yeah I don't disagree with this. He may turn out fine. It was a bad situation for everyone. I was mainly countering yer original point that it was all about height. Though I believe you were being somewhat sarcastic with that original point, so all of this is probably a pointless debate. :salute:

Actually, it's more the norm in college than most realize...

Brees - 6'0 (most believe he's actually 5'11)
Flutie - 5'9
Manziel - 6'0
Wuerffel - 6'1
Detmer - 6'0
Wilson - 5'11
Applewhite - 6'0

Size really isn't a great indicator of success in college. Arm, attitude, and intelligence are a lot more important.

Baker Mayfield listed at 6'1" ...maybe with his cleats on standing on concrete...

You guys cannot sit here and tell me that his size is not a huge problem.

It's not.

He can take a deeper drop after taking the snap and/or move a couple steps laterally away from the rush for the throwing lanes. The ability to get his footwork right, read coverages and make quick decisions is more important than height.

Russell Wilson and Doug Flutie have proven good QBs can function regardless of height. This kid is special like his brother.

Agree. Playing like Russell should be his objective. Winners win and those two brothers appear to be winners. Would love to have him.

Have no idea if this kid will be great or not. Hope he is.... at Tennessee.

But guys like Flutie, Wilson, & Manziel are the exception, not the rule.

Same logic as the “Stars don’t matter” crowd try to apply. Gaiz, JJ Watt was a 2 Star, gaiz!!!

I watched his highlight video, and there wasn't a single pass batted down. In fact he completed 100% of his passes, so no, not a problem.

Defenses kept trying to confuse him by changing jerseys, but no go! Two time Heisman winner and 12 time All-Pro on his way to the HOF. Reminds me of Seneca Wallace.

Haven't offenses today kind of decreased the value of having to be 6-2/6-4? Windows and viewing angles much more clear.

Seems like plenty of decent size QBs have excelled in college. I'm not really worried about his NFL potential
