'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

Kind of the point. They will sign who they want, but they will be limited by numbers. They will not sign everyone they want. Some because they choose to go elsewhere, and some because of NCAA mandated numbers. But numbers are very much a factor in recruiting. Ignoring them doesn't make the limitation go away.

Calling me Leb doesn't make the problem go away.
There is always room in the numbers if you want one player more than the other.

This is one of those "No ****, Sherlock" moments. All I stated was an opinion that Pruitt will opt for 1 QB this cycle. You're the one who made the argument numbers don't matter. It would have been far more simple if you simply stated "I feel he'll take 2." If that had happened, my next question would have been, what position do you think he sacrifices to make numbers work?

My reply would whicever he feels like. Because he’s the coach he gets to worry about numbers.

You do realize we all speculate and discuss possibilities here, right? Kind of the point of a MB.

We're allowed whoever Pruitt chooses to take. The staff has evaluated QBs. I don't care what the recruiting sites rank them. For now, I'll trust the staff.

Your OP doesn't show in blue font on my screen, but it does in the reply. Weird.

That was 2 QB’s as it turned out and a front line WR. And we had backcounting and blueshirting to play with.
Agreed, with hindsight in our favor. To be fair, none of those 3 panned out as QBs, really.

I just think it may not be wise to go into 2019 potentially only having McBride, Shrout (who threw 25 picks as a SR), and Maurer (who threw 13 picks as a JR) at QB. Another body, who likely has more natural talent than any of the other three, sure isn't going to hurt. I don't see a single scenario where we shouldn't be willing to trade the 22nd best player in our class for a QB with Taulia's talent at a position as important as QB.

Where did you see me say it would? Just my feeling. Need good QBs. Will lose Chryst and McBride after this year.
And JG, if Chryst wins the job. This staff is good, and could quite possibly convince him to stay, but I can't see him doing so if he has to sit another year here. I hope I'm wrong...I hope he wins the job.

I would like to see JG win it. I’m not going to write him off just yet.

Me neither. Im most excited to see what our D is going to look like; but, a close second is seeing what Helton has done with him.

I don’t think we’re in a position where we can rank the importance of our commits. Simmons is the lowest ranked but our most vital need. One quarterback starts. Multiple other positions need multiple players. One thing that’s been posted is that Pruitt will make the hard decisions. What we say doesn’t matter so if everyone else drops it, so will I.

No. If we had 25 spots it’d be different jmo.
I'd be surprised if we don't. And you're right, unless we drop a couple, we don't have the room for another QB. I believe that drop will come, however.

Agreed! We aren't turning Taulia down if he wants to sign here. Coach Mathews said Pruitt plans to sign 25, so that would mean having a few Blueshirt's. Just a matter of do we still sign Mauer too or does he get told to look around? Not all of our current 18 end up here anyway. Just a matter of how many of them won't be.

Oh, I believe we sign Mauer too. I think we sign 2 QBs this class, and take a transfer again next year, I really do. And if one of those signees is not Taulia, it will be Lance Legendre, or someone else.
I'm not saying it will happen, I hope it don't; but, there's a very real possibility of having only 1 scholarship QB (Shrout) after the season ends. Again, not saying it happens, just a very real possibility.
