'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

Oh, I believe we sign Mauer too. I think we sign 2 QBs this class, and take a transfer again next year, I really do. And if one of those signees is not Taulia, it will be Lance Legendre, or someone else.
I'm not saying it will happen, I hope it don't; but, there's a very real possibility of having only 1 scholarship QB (Shrout) after the season ends. Again, not saying it happens, just a very real possibility.

I agree 100%. If JG loses the job I definitely think he could leave, but it's sounding like he's locked it down. Doesn't mean he keeps it but I hope he can. I'm really excited about Shrout down the line, but it would be disastrous to be down to 1 scholly QB. Then you absolutely have to sign 2 and possibly look at a grad transfer. Don't even want to think about us being in that dangerous position. I'll still believe it when I see it with Taulia but there's definitely some friction with his family over the QB situation the past year and also from Saban with the Tagovailoa's. Then the Hurts and Saban mess. I'm guessing that's what's atleast opened it back up Taulia because of him and Paul Tyson coming in the same class. He may not wanna have to deal with the whole Bear Bryant's Grandson stuff. Still doubt he ends up here but would be a good surprise if he does.

I'd be surprised if we don't. And you're right, unless we drop a couple, we don't have the room for another QB. I believe that drop will come, however.
A Roman Harrison or Ladarius Cox (or both) might make it easier.

Agreed! We aren't turning Taulia down if he wants to sign here. Coach Mathews said Pruitt plans to sign 25, so that would mean having a few Blueshirt's. Just a matter of do we still sign Mauer too or does he get told to look around? Not all of our current 18 end up here anyway. Just a matter of how many of them won't be.
Blueshirting is impossible with the 25 signings per academic year limit, effective for the 2018 recruiting cycle. Grayshirting can still be done.

Agreed. Think it's just a matter of time before Cox flips to Auburn. Harrison could be a casualty too. Especially if we can flip that Miss St commit. Several committed now won't end up here. We have 7 committed DT and DE's and still pursuing a few others. Half of those could end up somewhere else.

Did that change for the upcoming '19 classes? You could still do it in the '18 class and is one reason we can't sign a traditional 25 along with the grad transfers we got.

TS clearly stated, it was effective for the '18 class. We can still grey shirt which is taking from the next class. But we can not blue shirt which is taking from the class before. These rules were in place for the '18 class nothing to my knowledge changes for the '19 class. And just to spell it out you could not blue shirt last cycle ('18).

I'll believe it when I see it as well, but I do believe that we are right there, and it's closer than what some may think. The QB at Bama is under tremendous pressure no matter who it is, and most thrive down there under it; but, this will be on another level for both Taulia and Tyson. Just look at from Taulia's shoes: sit one, maybe two yrs behind big brother, then compete with Bear's grandson, while trying to win a job your brother used to win 1, maybe more NC from. Pressure for these two cats could be unlike any we've seen in a while. And Taulia may be the type that welcomes that with opened arms, but then again he may be the type to say, 'why would i'. I agree totally with you.

I like Roman Harrison! I know bigger fish are out there for us to maybe reel in, but I think that kid is one hell of an athlete. Small school, no camps, and playing out of position is why this kid is maybe not rated way higher. If all the measurables I've seen for him are accurate...DAMN! They are high 4* measurables. I kind of hope he makes his way through somehow and is a part of this class. 6'2, 240. 4.6 40. Bench over 400. 39' vert. Can we turn that away?

Another thing: here, he would be loved by ALL. At Bama, make no mistake, there will be a faction that will never want him to succeed, no matter what.

He states that he was still taking visits “to make sure” that he was doing the right thing...he’s not 100%. Irregardless his spot or Jahlil Clemons are Crouch’s if he wants in. These are the rough choices I mentioned.

I think we get Taulia. I read somewhere that his dad wants him to blaze his own trail. What better place to do that than at UT? But is the kid that good? I've never seen any tape of him or looked at his numbers.

I don’t think we’re in a position where we can rank the importance of our commits. Simmons is the lowest ranked but our most vital need. One quarterback starts. Multiple other positions need multiple players. One thing that’s been posted is that Pruitt will make the hard decisions. What we say doesn’t matter so if everyone else drops it, so will I.
I don't think anyone needs to feel the pressure to stop discussing the topic. It is a worthwhile discussion, and I believe your opinion has merit.

We do have many needs and limited spots. I don't think anyone is debating that. I just happen to think that QB is the most important position in the game and I doubt if our staff is comfortable on passing up on a kid with TT's talent with the potential that we enter 2019 with only McBride, Shrout, and Maurer on the roster IF there is an opportunity to land him. Obviously, that means we have to sacrifice a spot in this class for another position, and I didn't mean to insinuate that it would be the "lowest ranked" player (Simmons in this case). Rather, we may only take 2 WRs instead of 3, or 4 DBs instead of 5.

Dude I was unaware of the change. So STFU, do I need to spell that out for you? If all that is true, how did NC State just do this? And no, Blueshirt's you also take from the following class but don't get on scholarship till fall classes start. Greyshirts just come in later after fall classes are over. If you're gonna be a tool atleast know what you're talking about.

2019 TE Kam Walker commits to NC State, accepts blueshirt offer

I definitely agree. I live among them and it's split with the ones I know as far as who they see as their future starting QB. Some with side with Tyson simply because he's from Ala and is Bear's grandson. Just like some Vol fans were pissed about hiring Pruitt because he's a Bammer. It's a stupid way to pick if you're gonna support someone but it is what it is I guess. I personally don't care where a HC is from as long as he wins for us.

If that was revised in 2017 how are teams still using Blueshirt's now? NC St just added one and W.Va too. Not sure how W.Va is using Blueshirt's and pulling from next year's class.

'Blueshirts' a part of WVU football recruiting lexicon

Disagree. OL is the most important on offense.

O-Line & D-Line are important but QB is definitely the most important position when it comes to the SEC.

If you don’t have a good QB who can run the offense, that puts pressure on the defense to keep you in the game.

You don’t pass up a potential game changer talent in TT.

Yes sir! A guy who does an SEC Podcast said yesterday Saban wasn't happy with the documentary the Tagovailoa family made this summer, so add that to the fire. Both QB's haven't liked how the QB situation has been handled dating back to last season. May be nothing to it but it's becoming more possible every day.

Ahh Bama.... a place where QBs end up having no career.
