‘23 AL RB Khalifa Keith (Tennessee)

only an opinion, I do believe I have a right to have one. From the film I've seen I'll stick with my opinion.

Have you seen film or just highlight videos?

No one said you didn't have a "right" to have an opinion. Others have the "right" to challenge your "opinion" and its reasoning.

PS- I do not claim to know how good either of these guys are or will become. I've been around to see many 5* busts and 3* greats. I'm old enough to remember when Arian Foster was discovered by UT while they were recruiting someone else. Plenty of talent. Became a pretty good back at UT and very good pro. The "gem" of that class was a 4* named Ja'kouri Williams. I think he was around the 16th ranked RB recruit in that class. Supposed to have it all... never made an impact.

There is minimal difference is size between Kieth and Seldon. But a great deal of difference in talent. I don't pretend to know what position or positions Cam will play.bur if it's RB Kieth won't be playing a lot of downs.
Who’s Kieth?

Who’s Kieth?
Sorry your excellence, my nephews name is spelled that way just a mistake. But if you still have problems figuring out who I meant just ask around. Thanks for the sparky response, there's a lot on here like that and Merry Christmas.

Don’t foist your kin upon us! 🤬 Santa Claus hates you!

PS- you have to consider competition. I hope Seldon is great for UT but a lot of his highlights are against awful competition.

Additionally. We have emerging big play threats with Wright and Sampson.
Small is Mr. Veteran.

Fast forward 2 years from now.
I do think Keith is the starting RB if healthy and developing the way I think he will.
Seldon I expect will be used much like South Carolina uses Dkeryon Joyner. So he will not start a WR or RB. But he'll touch the ball 15x a game, Running throwing and catching.

Sampson had to learn pass pro. We don't know how any Fr will do with that until they get in the system.

He had the 3rd highest ypc in the SEC and the highest among Fr.

He's promising. IMHO, he could be #1 to start next year.

I agree but would have to see it to believe it. Meaning does Coach Mack actually make him 1A to start the season. Obviously he has to earn it but Small and Wright have a lot of goodwill built up at this point.

Wright is my pick. He ihas home run speed and should only get better with more carries. He just needs to fix his ball security issues and I think he could blossom into a star.

He might be the best combination of speed, power, and vision of the 3. He gets a lot of yards that don't appear to be there.
Wright looked GREAT in the Vandy game, but it's always seemed (to me) like his vision in the 2nd/3rd level of the defense is lacking and the safeties tend to make the play that stops the homerun

Verified size + Track and Field = he's an elite athlete regardless of competition. He'll definitely have to adjust to SEC ball just like any freshman though.

I hate to have this conversation because it some choose to construe it as downing the kid... but history and particularly Vol history is littered with kids who were great athletes but didn't become great football players.

Do you remember "Spotted Ape"? Kenny O'Neal came in as a 5* several years back. One of the fastest guys UT ever signed. He was coached by Fulmer and I believe Trooper Taylor who had produced some really good WRs during that span of time. Never developed into anything but a "fast" guy in uniform.

It is usually a "good bet" to get the great athletes. But the best athletes don't always become the best football players. My hope is that Heupel knows talent and both Seldon and Keith become great players. He made a good call on Sampson.

Also, there is a significant step up from any HSFB competition to college and particularly the SEC. But in some of those video clips Seldon would have had more of a challenge running between dummies. Those guys are small and slow and don't look like they're particularly well coached.

The adjustment isn't as bad for those with a high football IQ. He'll learn quickly that a lot of the things you're able to do in high school are not possible at this level, but I think he'll be just fine. He doesn't look like an athlete playing football. He looks like a football player that's one hell of an athlete.

Cam supposedly will start at WR.
He'll play both RB and WR.

If Seldon focused just at RB, he'd be a 5 star guy there imo.

He's not just more talented than Keith, but every other RB imo
He looks like a RB in his highlight videos.

I hope he walks on water. I truly do. But the competition in those highlight videos is so poor that I don't think you can draw conclusions from them.

I truly hope he's great. I just can't jump to the conclusions you are based on his highlight videos or even those plus raw athleticism.

I'm in agreement. There's so much more to being successful at the collegiate level than being physicality gifted. The mental aspects, maturity, self motivation, and personal accountability are things that usually make the biggest difference between those that excel and the busts.

Agreed about best position.

A few things you can learn from his video.
- got everything on his own. Zero blocking.
He just threw them out the way and outran them
- He's raw. From the WR spot he gets open but has a tendency to catch with his body.
From the RB spot he runs a bit high.
- Workhorse player. He's always giving max effort.

More carries will help him with that. It’s hard to get in a rythem playing two backs and as fast as we play.

That’s a really bad take. Imagine this offense with blue chips. Why would we not want that. It’s like the offensive version of Georgia’s defense
I’ll add that with blue chips we beat Georgia
Never said I wouldn’t want one, or take one. Just said a 5* back isn’t needed

I feel like this will happen a lot less under heup but I understand your view point… this staff has been shown to develop well and put players in great positions to be successful… heup will maximize seldon in ways that nobody on our current roster can be used…

Oh lord.

What would make you say such a thing lol?

Statistically he was better than Jaylen Wright was for us last year.

If Dylan gets up to 200 lbs next fall then watch out!
wish we would actually use Jaylen Wright more. Really the only thing I had against the offensive staff this season. I think it’s pretty obvious Jaylen Wright is our best back but they just didn’t play him as the year went on

Had 9 fewer rushing attempts on the season than Small. Seemed he was always on the field when that yard was needed…especially at the end of the season. Had to overcome ball security issues dating back to last season.

He had 11 carries over the last 2 games
