'22 AL RB Quinshon Judkins

They just gave Sampson a bigger NIL deal to keep him here. They're also very excited about Seldon's progress learning the position. Bringing in this kid in at a premium price tag would make zero sense.
I don't want any RB's added through the portal. I think we have a really talented group in our RB room, and I don't want any of them considering other options after Spring practice because we made a portal addition that we didn't even need.

I think some people get enamored by the portal and others have legitimate concerns about our depth and inexperience at certain positions. I stated in another thread that it appears the youth movement is full go. They aren't even targeting potential 1 year guys in the portal. They brought back experience in the trenches on both sides of the ball to help Nico and the young DBs. But beyond that, it seems like they're making the move to talent over experience (with the exception of Bru and Pili). I'm all about it.

Could this be a cautionary tale about NIL over-spending in the portal, and not doing enough to keep your best existing players happy too?

Quinshon Judkins is a 2 time First Team All SEC RB for a team which just went 11-2. He had 1,153 yards rushing and led the SEC with 15 TD's 2023.

Pete Thamel was on College Football Today show, said Judkins is from Alabama..

He wants to win a Championship and best situation to put him in the NFL, he said Alabama most likely his destination..
We can all see that Judkins is from Montgomery, Alabama. Is there anyone who doesn't want to win a championship? The best situation to put him in the NFL was to stay put where he was already successful. This is definitely NIL driven.

Pete Thamel is still looking for Teo's dead girlfriend. Worst ever sports journalist.

On what planet is the best situation to prepare him for the NFL Ole Miss over Bama?

Judkins is a great RB, and if we weren't set at RB, I'd want us all over this kid. But we are set at RB. No need to overpay for one from the portal.

you get Judkins, then Sampson is cranky again. and round and round we go.

So over the last couple of year with this NIL and transfer portal mess players now control teams? Got it. I don't disagree with you but this has got to change other programs will be in trouble.

I don't think you'll see programs like Georgia and Alabama fall for these tactics. The player can hit the road.

The planet where he will be getting an average of 21 carries per game, as he has the last two seasons ... on what has been a fine offense with a good run blocking line. And it's where he has proven to be a good fit.

Is Alabama a better program than Ole Miss? Of course.
Is Saban a better coach than Kiffin? Of course.
Does that necessarily make this a wise thing for Judkins to do? No, it doesn't.

This feels NIL-driven. My guess? Judkins wanted a similar cut to what Nolen got .... and didn't get it.

Looks like it was pretty much a mutual decision. Judkins wants more NIL money than Ole miss is willing to give him so he’s looking for greener pastures. From the Ole Miss standpoint it looks like Judkins was becoming a bit of an issue. Apparently during the Peach Bowl Dart asked Kiffin to take Judkins out because he was screaming and belittling the offensive line. Ole Miss people are saying there have been issues with Judkins ever since the Tulane game this year.

First we had school greed and now have player envy. Round and round we go.

Rumor is that part of Judkins' motivation is that Kiffin lied to him about how he would be used, promising that he would be incorporated more into the passing game like many NFL teams are currently doing with their RBs. Instead, Kiffin has ran him to death between the tackles, much like Butch did with Jalen Hurd. Credit to Judkins for making it work. But he wants to go somewhere that he can prove he's multi-dimensional and help his draft stock.

Point me to the source for that. Interesting.

Getting 21 carries per game is actually a detriment to his future. He could go to Bama and practice against a bunch of future NFL players and then get 12-15 carries per game and be golden.

In zero aspects is Ole Miss better equipped to prepare a player for the NFL.
