I don't think UT's mindset is what you are describing. UT admin and fans alike understand we are not where we want to be and it's going to take some time. I don't think anyone was expecting UT to beat Bama, UF, and UGA this year. I do think we expected to go at least 5-5 by beating USCe, Mizzou, UK, Arkansas, and Vandy and maybe pulling a win out against Auburn, A&M, or one of our three primary rivals. We were not expecting to be subjected to JG single handedly losing games over and over or getting blown out by UK and not being remotely competitive against Bama, UF, or UGA. For me, coming into the season, I expected 6-4 plus or minus 1 win and indications that progress was being made building upon last year's winning streak compiled against some middling teams but still a good accomplishment. I, and I think the AD and most fans, was willing to even extend additional lenience given Covid-19. Accordingly, if Pruitt hadn't trotted out JG over and over again after everyone in the country knew he wasn't the best option and UT hadn't been blown out by UK and won that game (which it should have) and hadn't lost to Arkansas, there is no real discussion of Pruitt being gone. He would've gotten 5-6 years to get this right as the circumstances demand additional time. But year 3 needed to look much different than this even with the Covid-19 disruptions.
