He's not a early enrollee. It's not like waiting a couple of weeks is going to kill him. I would be willing to bet that they've simply asked them to give them some time and if he still wants his release they'll give it to him. This is a lesson in patience.Tweeting #freeme. I take that as he wants out now so he can sign elsewhere. Maybe I am wrong.

We are all hoping JH can hurry up and get a great DC here.If he continues to tweet stuff like that, think you have to release him sooner rather than later. Don't need to keep kids here who don't want to be here as it creates even more bad press.
With that being said, hopefully JH can get his DC in here ASAP, as in the next day or two, so that he at least can make a pitch beforw we let him go.
It looks like once he submits his official release request, he is allowed to communicate with other schools. Tennessee has 30 days to respond to his request. They will likely try to convince him to stay but grant his release by that time if he still wants it.He may be stubborn and want out. If he gives the new guys a real shot then I have no problem with him getting his release. If other teams are tampering and we know it, I would stipulate he can't go to those teams.
Please note that they did not specify when .If I were UT I would not release him until the new Defensive coaches had a chance to converse with him. This should cause no heart burn with him since .....like another poster stated he is not an early enrollee and he will be able to sign with another team in plenty of time to enter that school in May or June ( late Spring signing period ) which he was going to do at Tennessee anyway.I am certain that some school like maybe Auburn is pushing him to ask for his release so he can sign with them next week .
Except schools won’t necessarily hold a spot for himPlease note that they did not specify when .If I were UT I would not release him until the new Defensive coaches had a chance to converse with him.
You release him, and say please give our new coaches a chance. All we’re asking for is a chance for you to get to know them, but if you want to leave, we understand.
Under NCAA covid rules you can not meet him in person ....maybe April if they do not extend the recruiting restrictions both on and off campus. The best you can do is zoom him and his family.Too passive imo.
Have to be more aggressive.
Call him, and tell him the release will be granted, and that you want to give it to him in person.
When you get to Hanley, AL, you sit down and tell him- if your'e Heupel - that you were hired because the current players desired a change. And wanted a offensive coach. Tell him you're one of the best. Then tell him how that makes a Passrusher that much more effective playing with a lead.
Then ask him what did envision his career would be like before the change. Depending on how he responds, tell him if he is elite it will show no matter where he goes or who coaches him. Then talk about defensive players he's helped develop on different coaching staffs.
Then talk about how excited YOU Heupel are to coach at UT and bring your explosive offense that has scored 40 ppg. Mention guys that Brooks is tight with on the roster and their opinion of the change.
If Brooks brings up money...tell him simply
" We take care of our own. Come play for UT. Winning takes care of everything."
And JH brings his DC and DL coach with him on the visit and hopefully a proven DL coach.Too passive imo.

With Auburn getting a new DL coach maybe we can get their old one in RG.
