Kind of feel bad for the kid. We shouldn’t hold him hostage. He wanted to hold off on signing to see what happened with Pruitt and then Pruitt/Fulmer talked him into it promising things were fine. It’s one thing if you hire a DC quickly and he has a chance to give the guy a chance then still wants to leave but your taking forever to hire a DC and just hanging kid out to dry in the process. Don’t need someone in locker room that doesn’t want to be there.
At least take the chance to have a sit down with the new staff.
After that, if he steele wants to leave, release him. Same with Brown.

I don’t. He should honor the scholarship we have him. We start recruiting these kids years before they can sign. We’d have almost certainly passed on other lbs based on this guys verbal amd eventual signature. By releasing him it puts us way behind the ball with no chance to fill that spot in this cycle. He had to have known there was a chance Pruitt would’ve my be back when he signed. He needs to come here amd give it a year. If he doesn’t like what we have to offer he can always put his name in the portal and transfer. But for him to ask to be released at this point is cheap amd cowardly. We have the same roster now we had when he signed. And now we have a way better coach

Wanting him to stay for a year is one thing and understandable. Going into if they release him we can’t fill that spot this year starts trending towards hostage negotiation with the kid who can ultimately immediately hit the portal the second he’s on campus and open Pandora’s little box on how that could negatively effect recruiting down the road. Last thing we need is a kid telling others that Tennessee won’t release you if you have misgivings, just another negative recruiting piece for opposing coaches, especially in a tumultuous period of time when the coach was fired and you still don’t know who your DC will be. Let the kid go, cleaner and easier. How so? Because he wants him to honor his commitment?
He's got plenty of time before he has to enroll. He literally can pick anywhere he wants at any time. Every team would make room for him.Kind of feel bad for the kid. We shouldn’t hold him hostage.
