Don’t think Milton is capable. Has nothing to do with the coach. Dude is a mental case. Maybe needs to give TE a shot
Man, some of y’all pick the weirdest contrarian hills to die on, and I don’t understand why you picked the “Joe Milton can still be great next year” hill. I’ll concede dude has a cannon. But it was his decision to run out of bounds as time expired on the last play of the game, where all he had to do is put it in the end zone. Bailey was never going to excel in this offense. Most knew it, and were not surprised that he road the pine. Optimism is great, but false hope will kill you.Why do you think Coach brought him here and continued to keep him as backup with a 5 star also sitting on the bench? Don't see him doing that if he was fearful of football contact. We will find out next season if he is still number 2 game 1 or if it was just a weak narrative by some of our faithful.
He appeared to have made some improvement throwing the ball in his late season appearances. I wouldn't write him off completely just yet.
He has done really good things in "flashes". If anyone can fix him... It is probably someone like Heupel.

I’ve thought the same thing, and then he’s continued to make dumb mistakes like not securing the ball and getting it slapped out of his hands. Just have a difficult time thinking he’s going to consistently be a reliable QB. His statement earlier in the season to the effect of “a guy like me who can do it all” makes me think it will be very difficult to get him to believe he truly needs to listen to his coaches and grow and improve.

I don’t think we think he is necessarily afraid of contact..just an absolute dumbassWe have a lot of stupid fans who think he’s afraid of contact, based on the fact that he ran out of bounds at the end of the Ole Miss game. It was obviously a bad decision because he lost track of time and was trying to stop the clock, not realizing time had run out. But it wasn’t because “he’s afraid of contact.”
He may never pan out and he may pan out. But those who have already written him off and take every opportunity to trash the kid are garbage fans.
Didn’t say anyone was projecting those exact words. It was hyperbole. I respect him for playing for UT. I can still criticize him too. You seem to think you can’t. OkI have seen no one projecting greatness for Milton with his skill sets, but see no justification for publicly trashing a guy until he does not GIVE HIS ALL after slapping the sign. Seems really plausible that he demonstrated skills under the pressure of competition in fall camp that earned him the starter slot game 1. He has not consistently under game pressure TO DATE. Got it. But I doubt CJH named him starter over the protest of the OC or QB coach because if he had it would be out there in spades. He has 2 years and one game yet in his career to find and master the intangibles needed to be successful at this level. Until he demonstrates a lack of character to deny him VFL status, whether his time is on the field or on the bench I will have his back. If you can define that as contrarian we have two totally different sets of values. I feel pretty comfortable with mine.
I guess my point is that he seems to likely be ripping off information from those other outlets and Basilio advertises him as his recruiting insider/guru. I’d have a little more respect for the hustle if he offered up an original, or contrarian idea, but he really speaks as though he has VolNation open on a laptop in front of him as he’s being asked questions about specific players.

Think I’ve only made one post, outside of knee jerk/in-game comments, about Milton and his abilities. To say people are piling on, after what was done to JG his last year is absurd. You're right. No one is above reproach, but to pile on every time is name is mentioned or continually bring up his missed throws and running out of bounds is uncalled for. He's a Vol and will improve.
