I viewed his arrest and heard him crying as they were leading him to the car, but I couldn't make out what he was saying. Thought I heard the word "love", but can't be sure. Did those 2 have a history/relationship? Hard to imagine that a rejection could lead a kid to actually shoot a girl for it. Have we come to that point in this society?
Unless he was having some sort of break with reality, I'd have to assume he knew his life was all but over and was saying goodbyes to his family? Just an unbelievable story if rejection is the reason for the shooting. Hard to wrap my head around such insanity. The guy who took the video said Miles was talking to someone who was just off-camera. He was saying "I love you more than you can imagine." I don't know that anyone has identified who he was talking to, at least not publicly.
I just saw a report. Miles wasn't the shooter it was the 20 year old. I don't expect it to change much besides possible Miles sentence. With them being charged with capital murder the death penalty could be on the table.
I hadn't read that part. Yeah an accessory for sure if not more. I was just thinking if they pursued the death penalty that could save him, but not if he handed the gun to his buddy.Apparently Miles handed his buddy the gun right before the shooting started. That clearly makes him an accessory. It also makes him the one the DA is most likely to negotiate with to testify against the other, assuming they are even inclined to do so.

Does it seem like this is an open and shut case?
There are still some facts that need to come out before I would say it's "open and shut." But there are supposedly witness statements and surveillance footage that make it clear that Miles' friend shot first. That would destroy any self defense claim. Absent that, I don't know what the defense could possibly be.
I saw on the news he also told the girl who was shot after rejecting his advances " do you know who I am"? How could someone be so full of them self ? And how much can be blamed on the culture that disrespects women? One of the girls fam.posted that these two shot her because she wouldn't talk to them (ie hookup). IF true, my disgust meter doesn't measure that low.
Well saidWhile this thread has been an interesting read to say the least, with some people mad at others basically same thing with different verbiage, can’t we all agree that like with the Idaho killer, girls rejecting young men of any race, it is not a good reason for killing them… omg.. we could also throw mental health and objectification of women, and our over sexualized culture in there too.. oh, and the sense of entitlement pervasive in that age group now.. nobody owes anyone anything

Unreal and sickening. I'm in the camp where 0% is blamed on some nebulous idea of culture. Culture didn't pull out it's weapon and kill an innocent person.
I totally agree. It is for this same reason I do not use and reject and push back against the use of the term "gun violence" in my presence. Guns are tools like knives. Noticeably the murderer of the 4 Idaho State students was/is not being accused of knife violence. It's because knives are tools and do not deliver themselves off of shelves and commit acts of violence. It takes a human being to wield a tool and commit good or bad with it. Firearms are tools and if you or someone in your family has been spared harm due to the proper use of a firearm you know and understand they can be used for good.
