Alabama fan fired after tweeting he was 'glad' receiver struck female Tennessee fan

Well, again, his company name was attached to the tweet. I'm all for freedom of speech, but we are not free from the consequences of saying something stupid, and he was stupid. Especially if it's promoting violence against women. I don't understand how you can't comprehend that.
I never said I didn't understand that, you made that assumption and we all know what assumption means

Of course I don't want needless violence but again firing a dude over something he said in a tweet is dumb imo. Idk how to be more clear than that. I'm sure I'll be asked again though.
I'm not sure how old you are, but your words carry a lot more weight than you seem to think. This is a lesson you need to learn sooner rather than later.

Well companies don't own people outside of work and life doesn't evolve around work. I know some people think the exact opposite and maybe alot of people would say I'm insensitive but I couldn't careless what one does in their free time as it's THEIRS not the companies.
Go snort a line of blow and take a piss test genius.

This sounds like a teenager that just found out they have to work on weekends

Big lesson for social media users: do NOT identify or otherwise mention your work at all on your posts. You can be as much of an a-hole as you like , but don't post anything that links you to your employer: posts, profiles, etc. They don't want you representing them, any more than you want to think that they are representing you. Just like you shouldn't be wearing your company-logo'd polo when you get in a drunken brawl.

Most employers of any size (or at least of any sense) have a social media policy that addresses this very clearly.

Can confirm.. HR does look at people’s social media.. fair or not, it happens.. FB is easier because you could just not friend people you work with and put all settings to private.. and that may not all the time even be foolproof 😂 I tell my kids ‘be so, so careful’ and secretly breathe a sigh of relief that my twenties mostly happened in the 90s lol

I’ve seen people get security clearances denied and revoked because of something they put on social media years ago.

Yeah it's crazy how people take words so seriously sometimes

I'm 33 and if words carry weight over the internet then the person listening to it has major issues.

Are you reverting to calling me a girl, because that's the only scenario that you can see yourself being tough with me? I'd bet you're wearing a wife beater at this very moment.
Oof getting all agnsty I see. Pretty pathetic you get upset over words. I don't own wife beaters. Even if we were face to face I'd call you worse and nothing would happen it's just how it goes. 🤷 people who get upset over words is hilarious to me. Like grow up words don't hurt.
