What was peaceful about the Boston tea party riot??
Not referring to that. You mentioned the 1st amendment. Have you read it? I'm just saying, we do have the right.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Players at every program in the country are going to get this, just as players at every program in the country have been sick each season since college football began.

COVID-19 presents no extreme risk to young adults and does not require any coddling/overreactions when dealing with any student-athlete testing positive.

Rest assured, there will be college football played this fall.

Only way to explain cavalier attitudes over the reality of the situation, as it stands now, is idealogical bias or personal desire. Would any of us want our beloved Trey Smith, with his medical history and compelling life story, to contract this virus? Is that an acceptable risk so we can be entertained? That's just one hypothetical. We need to think about it beyond our own wishes with empathy and respect for lives already lost.

I agree with you in theory. The problem is many people in power still have the ability to shut this thing down, especially if more and more schools begin to report cases.

I was beginning to feel very confident we were going to have a full season with maybe a few restrictions, but after today with reports coming out of multiple schools having cases among players reporting to camp, I would not be surprised one bit if people in power start pumping the brakes. All it takes is one school or conference to start closing up shop and others will follow. That's how it all started back in March with other sports.

Again, I'm with you, I think we should push through and start the season on time, with little to no restrictions, but I am beginning to believe the season is in jeopardy. At best I think we're gonna see an abbrrviated season with probably no fans in the stands, and hoping to goodness they don't just cancel the whole thing.

Shouldn't the decision be his to make?

If 5 players had pneumonia without symptoms would anyone be writing stories about the season being in jeopardy? Pneumonia can be really deadly. It puts people in the hospital. It can result in folks being put on a vent. There is no vaccine. It doesn't even require someone to pass it to you. It can just materialize based on environment and health conditions.

Interesting that these stories are being pushed just as something that unites people starts back up. Big Orange Country (and Americans in general) need positive things to coalesce around. College sports is one of those things. Look at how all the bickering and arguing stopped when the barrage of commitments started.

This is bigger than a virus now. Has been for a while. As a country we've let this virus do nothing but promote division. We see those chickens coming home to roost right now. College athletics brings us together with that team spirit that the athletic dept memo referenced. The risk from now playing is greater than the risk of playing.

Some people seem to be enjoying the whole virus scene, with its lockdowns, masks, and distancing. It's as if they have been secretly waiting for this event their entire lives. And now that it's here, they can barely contain their enthusiasm. And they want everyone else to share in their fear-based OCD. Masks have become the new universal symbology for sheep.
I hate wearing a mask but I have to, not because I’m a sheep just the fact I work at Walmart and it is required

From an individual liberty perspective, yes. From a public health perspective in the middle of a pandemic, maybe not. Life doesn't play out in absolutes. With its fluidity, we have to adapt and sometimes make decisions for the greater good that transcend ideology in a vacuum. That's why I referenced bias up front. None of us always make self-preserving or community-oriented choices in our youth. It's part of being young. The ultimate point goes way beyond one hypothetical, though.

I don't think anyone would nor should expect Trey to play this year. He should sit out and prepare for the draft.

Thank God we have people like you to make our decisions.

If you will do a basic google search you will find that your absurd statement had no foundation in fact. Lets not kill people just because we can type inaccurate information on a keyboard ok?

Or you could have just looked up where I’ve already posted the data.

Bingo....we have the Rona Crew (OP being part of this group) on here preaching social distancing from the get go. Yet when it comes to 10s of thousands of people gathered protesting they don't make a peep....agenda driven much?
Protesting for civil rights is a tad more important to human welfare than football. It’s called priorities.
