Yea you are a youngster on this series. They have beaten us so many times over the last 20 years. I hate bammer to the bone!I’m in my early 30s, so I suppose I’m on the younger side, yeah. In my earliest memories, Florida and Georgia, even Auburn, were our nemeses. Alabama was an afterthought in my mind.
interesting take. I'm curious to what time period you think beating them was ho-hum? I've watched this game in person (legion field many times) and Tuscaloosa plus home every year since 1980 and never felt leading up to TSIO was a ho-hum game. Please share if you don't mind.I had hoped that Alabama would remain relevant for a half decade or so just to bolster the TSIO as a rivalry. I remember when beating them was ho-hum; it would be nice for our game with them to be one of the premier matchups in the conference, as it has been the last few years.
However, if they are so spoiled and entitled that they want to run Deboer off and implode as a program…

They literally had a whole industry of paying players that was well distanced and separate from any campus activities at all for years. Then along came the portal and NIL and evened the playing field for all their competitors. Saban saw the writing on the wall, granted he knew nothing about the pay for play so he could testify under oath his ignorance, and promptly retired.Bama gonna run off a great coach. They had the greatest run in the programs history and think its supposed to be duplicated. Out of touch with reality
I swear I can't help but think guys like that secretly hope we lose just so they can have that "moment". I mean as hard as they push it, all season long in every thread.....how could they not. I seriously think something would be wrong with them if they didn't. Lol, how messed up is that?i dunno, hes so pitiful its endearing
I became a Vol fan in 1956 as a twelve year old. What a wonderful year it was - undefeated regular season, number 2 in the nation, Johnny's Hypeman race. He isn't the only Tennessee player to get out hyped for that award. I must admit, Johnny broke my heart when he fumbled that punt near the end of the '57 Sugar Bow, l giving Baylor a very short field and the win. Since then I have remained a fan through all the up and downs - the lows of the late 50s and early 60s, the ups of Dickey, another lull, resurgence under Majors and Fulmer, the crap we endured until Heuple arrived. I've rooted for the Vols throughout. To remain relevant to the topic of this thread, and based on my experiences as a Tennessee fan, I can certainly empathize if the Gumps go through a few years of misery. However I will never SYMPATHIZE . I will thoroughly enjoy every loss and hope Alabama descends into football hell.
You’re joking right? You really do have blinders on if you believe that, pot meet kettle.
I agree. I have lifelong friends, TN born and raised, who jumped on that Bama bandwagon. I guess they somehow think it elevates their status to root for the winner. Yes, you are right, this year may be just a glitch and they'll stay at or near the top of the college football world. One can always hope, eh?A realist, and likely a very small subset on this board that can remember/relate that far back. I don’t think we’ve nearly made it to the insufferable portion of the Bama fan base…yet. Then again, their fair weather fan base that increased 100 fold during Saban’s tenure is just as likely to move on, time will tell.
Bear hand picked Perkins. How'd that work out?According the Bama fans I am around his hiring was approved by Saban. So Saban may also have a say if and when he is fired. He doesn't want his choice to look bad. As other posters on here have said, some Tide fans are just delusional in thinking the high level of the Saban run can continue.
