Alabama message boards meltdown

So you wouldn’t play anywhere in the SEC except Vandy?
One would think that with the fanbase expectations, the 5* 4* recruiting classes, and the top notch coaching staff, expectations would be higher at other schools than Vandy. Alabama has been a première program for years as well as other programs. IOW, you don't start the season at Vanday thinking you are going to win the NC. Many other programs do. Some go to Vandy to play in the SEC and other reasons not to win a NC. I would play anywhere I play and make the roster. The cut line is what it is.

So many of these people don’t realize that their success over the past 15 or so years was because of Nick Saban, not because they are “The University of Alabama”. They literally win the jackpot when he took that job and he ain’t there anymore. That could have been any school that was lucky enough to get him.

The program that really needs to go through that is Georgia IMO. They are just as bad as Bama right now. Both deserve it.

uga is worse. At least old time Bama fans (not the bandwagon folks already moving on) have program tradition backing them up. uga fans literally have a cookie cutter stadium, a copied helmet design, a mascot shared with 1/2 the high schools in the nation, an athletic complex named after a skid mark, and grown men barking wearing S&M gear as the 'culture'.

I detest Bama as much as the next guy, but at least they have tradition. uga has nothing. They need to suck again, as they should.

Portal is going to be interesting for Alabama.
They really have nothing now that NIL and the transfer portal has come to play

I would not want to play in an environment that is constantly under a microscope and pressure of which fans will constantly criticize your every move.

Alabama glimmer is gone and so is the backdoor cash. No longer a singular launching pad as NIL and the transfer portal has made them an Average bunch of Joes trying to do a hero's type job.

Fans who live in glass houses….

Have you seen this place after a loss? Or a “disappointing” win?

You haven't lived in Alabama. They went from Arrogant (Bear's years), to delusional (Perkins to Shula) to Arrogance again (Saban). They ran off Curry after a 10-win season and a share of the SEC Championship and then several years later ran off a national championship coach (Stallings) after a 10 win season, replacing him with Mike DuBose (one of Bear's boys). If they fire or run off Deboer, they'll be in the wilderness for years because no good HC with half a brain would go into that clusterf***. I think Deboer may resign after next season because of the stupidity of the fan base.
I grew up in Alabama and live here still. This is truth. Crazy how fast your stock can drop after you win a natty. Look at the natty coaches that fell from grace and got let go.

Start with Alabama (Stallings) and they made that look like he resigned buy really he was shown the door.
Les Miles and Orgeron at LSU.
Chizick at Auburn.
You could even throw Fulmer in there.

Dad used to say "you can't win todays games on yesterdays homeruns". I'm seeing Deboer's seat heating up. If he sucks, he needs just enough wins to keep his job. LOL

Bothsiderism notwithstanding, IMHO the fans who have remained through the Kiffin/Dooley/Jones/Pruitt years are pretty steadfast and reality-based, and while we may be strong in our opinions after a loss, you cannot honestly be comparing Tennessee fans after a loss to Bammers' reactions? Really?

Yes it started years ago and continued to burn like a candle. Lasted through three of these periods at Tennessee. Some Alabama fans are sitting at home today thinking of scenarios that they get into the CFP and win the whole thing. Not a glass house but an Out House.

I had hoped that Alabama would remain relevant for a half decade or so just to bolster the TSIO as a rivalry. I remember when beating them was ho-hum; it would be nice for our game with them to be one of the premier matchups in the conference, as it has been the last few years.

However, if they are so spoiled and entitled that they want to run Deboer off and implode as a program…

You must be on the younger side?

Alabama has been more than relevant for a bit more than the Saban era.

And prior to Fulmer, we had another big streak against us in the 80s.

You forgot that they are the biggest face painting bunch out there.

It should hardly shock anyone that folks who put on leather dog collars and bark at people enjoy putting makeup on their faces.......

Again, the name of their athletic building is "Butts-Mehre 'Heritage' Hall"......that says all that need be said..........

(I put 'Heritage' in additional quotes because that trash program HAS no heritage.)

A quiet, nice man I've been around some for a few years revealed recently he's a Bama fan and they would have beaten the Vols had they not played their worst game in years. Now...I don't usually get caught up in the hate and the nanna nanna boo boo stuff. Had a family member who coached at Bama for many years and I'm still friends with his kids. Have several friends who played at Bama. One was an All American....However, I told this gentleman "I had no idea he was a Bama fan" (he's in his late 60's) and ask how long had he loved Bama. He said "ever since Saban became coach". I promptly told him "you're no Bama fan....you're a Nick Saban fan". Regardless of Deboer success/failure they'll prob see some falling away in the next few years.

This post is fulfilling to say the least, been looking forward to this day/season for a long time.

In reality, what did Bama fans as well as college football expect? There is not another coach alive who can step in and duplicate what Saban did. Sure he was a great coach, however he had Bama by the short hairs from day one and had 100% control of the university. He had anything he wanted to stay 4-5 steps in front of every other college program.

Now that NIL has leveled the playing field, Bama will never, never, duplicate the last 18 years and they cannot accept it. I always thought that KY basketball fans were the most entitled, they can’t hold a candle to Bama football fans.
You'd be surprised but I know quite a few people that claim UK basketball and Alabama football fan status. That would explain the similarities.
