Alan Posey no longer with the team

That is one of the things I hated about Fulmer (dear lord please nobody respond to this) he would sit obviously more talented underclassmen in favor of older guys all the time. If you earn the spot, and are better than the other guy...you should get the spot.

^^^ THIS! :good!:

Here it is in laymen's terms. The coaches incentive program is backfiring on them and players are leaving or thinking of leaving because of it. Dallas's leaving is not because of weed or personal problem's, it's the coaches and I hear rumors of others leaving also but will wait to tell you who when they are no longer practicing!

Attrition with a new coaching staff is very common. I was really surprised that we had so few defections earlier in the summer. I'm not too bent over these two leaving and will not be too surprised when/if a few more leave. Some guys feel entitled to playing time (based upon positioning on the two deep with previous staff) and I think this staff requires these guys to earn their spot all the time. :peace2:

Edit: I don't judge these two young men though. If they feel like they need to be someplace else and leave on good terms then I wish them the best. I don't know what their situation is.

Would much rather it be incentives that are earned both on and off the field. No player should be entitled.

CBJ knows exactly what he's doing. He was loved by all of his teams from previous schools. CBJ's incentive program as you call it will serve the TEAM well and make us all proud of the product he puts on the field.

CBJ has given me no reason to doubt his plan works at previous schools he has coached and to this point at UT.

Sounds like growing pains. If you want to quit, quit. And take this black cloud with you.

Both are remaining in school right now. I read several days ago they were examining their futures. Yesterday, Dallas tweeted that he got great news. So this whole bad things are happening/strife just doesn't appear to be the case. Whatever is going on there's no evidence of strife just support.

This is a weird situation.

It was the catch 22 of his personality. Fulmer was loyal to a fault....absolute truth. Players and coaches. Just the facts.

It's probably only weird because we're not privy to the details. A lot happens to young people in college both bad things and good things and sometimes there's a realization that you need to change direction to get what you really want out of life. I'm just glad there's support here. Whatever has happened it appears that they're not being thrown away as expendable and they're not running off in a huff - that says a lot. They really have thought about their futures and have decided to stay and embrace change regardless of what caused it. Again that says a lot about them and the team.

I don't get the bolting mid-season. They're staying in school-- on athletic scholarships-- but can't stay on the team for a few more months? Dallas played against UGA and just days later, he's done?

That's strange fo sho.

Dallas is gone also. The new coaches repeatedly tell the players THEIR recruits will trump them. FRESHMAN are their main priority. Alot of discord on the team. Expect them to drop like flies and transfer.

Brilliant, So coaches are advising players that frosh are the future? I don't think any coach at the college level would ever do this, it wouldn't be very smart on their part, now would it?

This, it doesn't make sense just Saturday we as a team was coming together after a game according to coach, let's wait to see how this plays out but in true VN form everyone start bashing the players NOW!

I hear you...

It's kinda like saying...

"I know when the next 3 catastrophic earthquakes and the next 4 mega volcanoes are going off, but I'm not saying anything until after they pop... I don't want anyone to worry too much."

:loco:  :banghead2: :whatever: :swoon3:

"Afraid of the VOLNATION MELTDOWN" is how they usually gently put it :)

if they have made a decision to go elsewhere, why would they want to stay here and endure practice?? practice is not fun for those playing all the time let alone those who don't play very much. I imagine both of these kids spent parts of each week pretending to be opponents on the scout team

Now that could be what's going on. Perhaps the poster is friends with someone on the team that feels they are entitled to a position that a younger player is taking over. They could be misrepresenting what was said.

Some people hear what they want to hear. Opening up spots to competition to some people is disrespectful. Bottomline is the staff is all about winning and will put the player that gives the team the best shot at winning.

It is only disrespectful to those with a sense of entitlement. And that is not something that any player, no matter how good he is, should get in his head. Veteran NFL players, sometimes pro bowl players from the previous season, get released because a rookie or free agent works harder.

Hate losing Posey and Dallas. But no matter what their potential might be, if they aren't proving themselves worthy of significant playing time, perhaps asking to be released and finishing elsewhere might be in their own and the teams best interest. For whatever reason this happened, I wish them both well.
