Albany DE Jared Verse (transfer - FSU commit)

We're just ending phase 1 of the transfer portal (guys who entered before bowl games). Phase 2 is just starting and should pick up next week after the National Championship game. There will be more names pop up. Then we still have phase 3 once spring practice starts and guys either
A: don't like new coaching staffs
B: don't fit new systems
C: don't like where they are on the depth chart.
Either way, we'll have a shot at more guys that can help us.

Get outta here with this nonsense!

We need every hit we can get. Every high quality recruit we whiff on hurts. There is nothing wrong with people expressing their concern about it. We need big time players or we are going to be stuck in our current spot in the pecking order forever...

That being said...some of y'all are crazy. It is not the end of the world...Pearce could very likely show up and be great.

I agree, but I'll add that every phase of the portal you go through two things happen, the quality, at least in established production, typically goes down. And the number of guys available does as well. And we are always fighting other programs at every step.

While I agree it's not doom and gloom there is certainly cause for concern.

Oh well.... would have been nice to see what he had. Truth is we have no idea how good he would be. Hope he balls out down there just because he seems to be a solid kid. Did what he thought was best. I disagree and not just because I bleed orange.

I think this guy would have fit our defense and team culture well. He chose a different route. It would appear that he wanted to be guaranteed a starting position. Instead of come in and compete.

I’ve been coming to this thread religiously for a week, constantly refreshing and putting up with all you dumb a$$holes and your idiotic puns, pretending I liked you, and this is the payoff I get?!! There is no justice in this world!!!!

Hey, by the way, y’all just ignore what I said about being dumb a$$holes and using idiotic puns. That was just the hurt talking. I didn’t mean it.

A$$holes.

Yeah, I think we just need to agree to disagree. All I can tell you is to check out Spyre. The other schools are playing on a different level.
We are out in front of Cracker Barrel playing checkers with someone from the nursing home. They are playing chess and have brought in Bobby Fisher in his prime.

Other than us being die hard Vol fans, why is Verse going to FSU such a terrible decision? Their program is not in great shape but neither is ours. We had one of the worst defenses in college football last year. Garner is fantastic but their DL coach is also highly respected for putting players in the NFL. They have a much better weather climate. Maybe he connected better with their players and maybe got a better NIL deal. That doesn’t mean we are not willing to put up money. We have already put up alot I’m sure to keep the players we have kept for next year. Recruiting big fish means you miss on more than you hit. Tennessee is in the early stages of a rebuild. Every loss on the field and in recruiting is not a disaster. We are not close to Bama or Georgia. We need to chill. This staff will work through the challenges and eventually get us back to competing for championships.
